A must do for those who have never been on the ocean and have lobsters and clams over a fire. The boat ride is half the fun. You may see seals and porposes on way as a bonus. Relax when you arrive while staff cook lushous seafood the traditional way.Enjoy!!!

You get a beautiful trip out, the lobster (and chicken) are excellent. It is a traditional Maine lobster bake with such a wonderful family who has operated it for years. Worth the price tag....

As a Boothbay Harbor year-round resident, my wife and I have been to Cabbage Island Lobster Bakes about four times. Obviously we wouldn't go back if it wasn't good. This is a family run operation has really perfected the whole experience. After purchasing a ticket, you board their boat and take a scenic cruise before docking at their island in one of Maine's bays. You then have a choice of sitting outside on picnic tables, or inside, undercover. They have a nice group of local servers who bring you your beverages followed by chowder. When the dinner triangle rings (this has been done by the original owner in her 80's or 90's), you walk down by the shore to get your lobsterbake. Each time we've gone, it included two lobsters, steamed clams, a potato, onion, and hard boiled egg. (Traditionally the egg was used to tell the cooker everything was done.) Finally, we were served a large piece of blueberry cake and coffee. Alcoholic drinks were available for an extra charge. Delicious food cooked perfectly and very nice people. If you have time to spare, you can walk around the island before the boat brings you back to the harbor. It's a great meal and experience for not much more than a restaurant dinner.

Wow. What a day! We started in Boothbay Harbor. Make sure you are about an hour early. You want to be there in plenty of time to confirm your reservations so that you can get on the boat. Your reservations will be given away if you don't check in. We checked in. Then we sat in the bar at the little local restaurant and had a Bloody Mary and relaxed. This bar is to the left of the on-ramp onto the boat. Really nice, comfortable, local, Friendly place. Then we got on our boat and had a wonderful trip out to the Cabbage Island. We saw dolphins swimming on our way out to the island. Once on the island, we visited and they started bringing a meal right away. We had a nice fish chowder. They had potatoes, corn two lobsters, steamed clams, a wonderful onion cooked in its skin, it was delicious. The one drawback is you do need to be able to walk very well. You have to go down and pick up your tray of food. They constantly bringing you water, tea, coffee. You do pay for drinks. And alcoholic beverages are very expensive. A picture of Bud Light is like $25. The whole experience is really nice, THERE are wonderful, clean bathrooms. There is seating inside in case it is rainy. We sat outside and had a wonderful time. The trip back on the boat was a little faster than the trip out. But all in all, it's a wonderful afternoon I strongly think it was well worth the money.
