Visiting Bangor with my wife, we wanted to eat in but wanted chowder. Ended up doing take out with fish chowder, half and half seafood platter, both very good. Chowder was very thick, actually didn't have much broth. The platter was lightly fried, not over breaded or over cooked. And, my wife had Nightmare for dessert. All very good, we were glad we chose this local restaurant.

Governors is an awesome restaurant! If you can't find, something you like on their extensive menu and daily specials I would be shocked. There is, plenty of comfort food of excellent quality and generous portions. Their French fries are the best around. Service is very good as,well. The prices are, some of the best around.

The special was a $9.00 haddock dinner, and it was LARGE. We decided to buy one, split it, and order a side salad. The waitress delivered the main course divided onto two plates, and they looked like normal-size dinners. Governor's appears to attract a lot of locals, and everyone was friendly.

Had a late lunch and my husband and I decided to order a couple of dishes to share. We had 1 lb of boneless chicken wings and an order of deep fried pickles. Our food wasn't long coming and it was piping hot. The chicken wings, really chicken fingers, were so moist and tasty and the deep fried pickles were slices, like pickle chips as opposed to the pickle spears I've had before. These pickle chips were just the best. They had a nice light batter on them and came with a ranch sauce for dipping. It was more than enough food for the 2 of us and it was all great. We often come to Governor's when in town and we are never disappointed. This trip was no exception.

Good food, large portions. Good prices, Home cooked meals. Large bakery items -- two immature males at the door seating people, acting silly -- other than that, a great restaurant.
