This was a great stop for us to learn more about the area. It had hands on learning about the habitats and industries of southern LA, plus plenty of visitor guides to plan our day trips while vacationing in the area. The lady at the desk really explained what to expect as we ventured on the Creole Nature Trail.
Small gift shop area wasn’t overwhelming, but has just the right amount of souvenirs to choose from. Clean and well-maintained. Nice people working there.

We had a great time. We took our 14 year old son and he really loved it. We saw all types of birds, an owl, alligators, turtles, and beautiful vegetation. Try to go early though. It was super hot!

This little gem is a quick stop if you’d like to dabble in local Cajun culture. Children get to listen to zydeco and Cajun music while pretending to play an instrument in the band. I also enjoy the recipe cards from local restaurants. I’d say a good 30 minutes and you can see all this tourist attraction has to offer. I’m a local and we visit a few times a year. It’s a must see if you’re on your way to visit the Creole Nature Trail a little further south.

Especially enjoyed the interactive Cajun and Zydeco music exhibit. Info on the marshland and bayous with nice wall paintings. Even had a food exhibit with push button pronunciations for Cajun words and phrases, free recipe cards, and a cabinet with containers you squeeze to smell different spices and flavorings used in the cuisine. There's a free map for visiting points along the nature trail as you drive south towards the Gulf of Mexico.
