Stopped off to see what this place was all about. Great info from the man at the desk. Loved all the exhibits that depict Louisiana life. Followed his directions down the Creole Nature trail and loved all the interest points he told us about. Also want to come back in the fall to see more birds and other fowl. Also explained we can crab with out a license but limit is 5 dozen. I grew up in this area and was surprised by all the info and happy to see this is offered at no charge to visitors. Will come back for more when I have more time and cooler weather.

So glad you enjoyed your visit to Adventure Point and the trail. YES, you have to come back during the fall migration. So many fantastic birds to see. Plus - fewer mosquitos. See you again this fall.

We used to live just across the border in Texas, so we drove down the Creole Nature Trail just about every year and made a stop at the Sabine Wildlife Refuge. This Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point did not exist during our 40 years or so of being neighbors to Sulphur. On our recent vacation spend with our son, daughter-in-law, and three grandsons, we decided to stop by the wildlife refuge like old times. The weather was not cooperating so, in the end, we didn't get to go out on the trail at the wildlife refuge. The stop at the Adventure Point center may our day a good one, anyway. The dioramas and hands-on activities are great for kids, and, well, I enjoyed them too. I especially like the activity of joining in a Cajun or Zydeco band and getting to "play" the instruments. I could have stayed for a longer time. It is a great place to learn about and experience southwest Louisiana.

This is a really good place to visit before driving South along this scenic byway. Will was really helpful with advice and his huge local knowledge. Displays in the small centre are interesting and easy to absorb.

First off I should say this place is a little tricky to find. If you remember it's after DQ but before Stein's Lumber that should help. We missed it on the first pass though.

It is a very well done information center with a music exhibition and several swamp exhibits. However, what made it really nice was the talk I had with the lass from Scotland. She is very knowledgeable about the area and was able to answer the various questions I had.

I had remembered the old center that was down in Hackberry and apparently Rita wiped that out, but she didn't wipe out the mom and pop animatronic Cajuns which are present on the other side of the trail (it's a loop from Hackberry to Lake Charles).

This time we didn't have time to drive the whole trail, I was specifically checking out this center and was impressed. I've been on the actual trail going down to Holly Beach and over the ferry to Cameron and up to the swamp self driving tour and the visitor's center near Lake Charles.

My suggestion is to go here first, ask the lady questions and plan a few hours to complete the whole tour. If anything, you'll get an appreciation for the environment that the Cajuns had to learn to deal with and hopefully you'll see the natural beauty of SW Louisiana, which is being developed like never before.

Hurry and see this before it's all developed!
