We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kirkside Cottage. Simon and Becca have clearly given much thought to the things that matter when on holiday and we were made to feel very welcome indeed. We greatly enjoyed our visits to the local colourful and picturesque harbours which even included seeing a cricket match on the sands at nearby Elie … tide stops play! We recommend a visit to St Andrews where we enjoyed walking the sands and exploring the back streets and the Botanical Gardens. Everyone we met in Fife was extremely friendly. The weather was warm enough to paddle, but cool enough to enjoy an open fire in the evening.
My mother and I enjoyed our week staying in this lovely, well-equipped immaculate cottage, highly recommended.
On our arrival we found fresh flowers in the living room and bedroom, home-made fruit loaf and bottle of wine, also tea, coffee, sugar and a pint of milk, all very much appreciated.
The cottage is an ideal location for travelling to St. Andrews, Pittenweem, Anstruther etc.
The cottage also dog friendly (I wouldnt go anywhere without my dog) with a safe, enclosed rear patio area and plenty of room indoors.
We had an amazing stay at this lovely cottage. This cottage is super well equipped- everything we looked for we found. The garden in just a paved area, but we still managed to sit out there in the sunshine (I know - there was sunshine in Scotland!) and the dog was super happy anyhow with all the amazing beautiful walks near by.
Thank you so much for a lovely holiday!
Upper Largo is a really pretty village on the South Coast of Fife. The inhabitants are very charming and helpful..
The cottage is located in the shadow of the elevated church and is warm and inviting. It is decorated to a very high standard with wooden flooring and an open fire if required. However it was so cosy, we did not use this facility.
The kitchen is well appointed with washer drier, fridge, cooking hob, oven and all the things you would need to enjoy your stay.
It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk to the beach and the Fife Coastal Path, from which the views are awesome. We saw guillemots, stone-turners, plovers, seals, and many more species of seabird during our stay here. We walked from Leven to Crail in 4 stages, using the frequent local bus service to reach the starting points and collect us from the end points.
The local pub is well run and the food is excellent.
Edinburgh can be reached within 2 hours on an hourly bus service.
Upper Largo and Kirkside Cottage are worthy of consideration if you are thinking of a visit to this area.
The hosts are charming and were on hand for any help required.. They left us with a welcoming gift of excellent fruit cake and home made plum jam. It was delicious.
We intend to return to Kirkside in the future.
From the minute we drove up to park outside the cottage we could see it was very special;. Beautifully tended hanging baskets and tubs decorate the front and once inside we found fresh flowers and houseplants decorating the rooms. A lovely (and very welcome) touch was the home made cake and jam that we found in the kitchen along with a bottle of wine.
The cottage is around a 15 minute walk from the beach at Lower Largo from where you can also access the Fife Coastal Path which we enjoyed exploring.
The beds were very comfy and the cottage was clean and cosy with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.
