Wow ... what a privilege to be Andrew & Carolyn's 2nd Guests at "Bed in a Shed", their new B&B ... just near the Vine Art Studio.
This was the most pleasant B and B experience that I have had in the past five years. “Bed in a Shed” (Leasingham, Clare Valley, South Australia) was a delightful surprise; modern quirky accommodation with an artistic flare that has to be seen.
The accommodation reminded me of the ‘tiny house’ movement. I could live there – VERY comfortable beds, no creepy crawlies and all modern conveniences. The fridge was well-stocked with fresh items for a cooked (or continental) breakfast, fresh fruit and the bottle of local wine was yummy!
Andrew and Caroline are wonderful hosts, very helpful about places to go but then disappeared into the background. I felt very private but secure.
The place was so relaxing that I did not venture far. I was happy to sit – take in the scenery overlooking vineyards. I did take a pleasant walk through Annie Lane’s vineyards to a local historic cemetery.
Great value for money!

Hi Helen and Suzi
Thank you very much for your review
We have spent the last 8 months building "Bed in a Shed" so we were delighted to have you as guests
Your story telling of your time in Uganda in 1978 had us enthralled
We had never met a hydrologist before let alone an accomplished helicopter pilot as well, you are to be commended
Climbing mountains for a living sounds exciting
We would love to have you back and wish Helen all the very best for her forthcoming wedding to Gavin
Best regards
Andrew and Carolyn Quixley
What an amazing little place this is in the Clare Valley!
The hosts Andrew and Caroline are the perfect hosts. Their small art gallery and lolly shop are fun for the kids and adults alike.
The scones alone are worth a visit. (Almost a meal in themselves and fresh out of the oven)
While you're there, ask Andrew to show you his 'Bed in a Shed' project. Soon to be a Clare's latest B&B. Made by Andrew himself. One clever man...
Thank you Melanie for taking the time to review our business
Really glad you enjoyed the Devonshire Tea and the fascinating chat we had
I was unaware that underwater cricket was the latest greatest sport around
Your sons amazing portrayal of Sir Donald Bradman and his 1953 speech was both accurate and well rehearsed and if I had closed my eyes I would have definitely thought it was the great Don himself speaking
He definitely has a gift and will be well received in theatrical circles
And your daughter, you must be very proud of her running the three minute mile wow
It was a delight having you all in and we look forward to seeing you next time
Do hope that the lollies helped keep the kids quiet as you drove home
Kind regards
Andrew Quixley.
Andrew has cast his net wide - Bed in a Shed is a brilliant idea which is taking shape as we speak. Well done Andrew. A showcase of some lovely local art work as well as Andrew's own, plus a rather scrumptious milk shake which he shared with me (didn't want a whole one, he said!). Keep up the good work Andrew.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review our business
We have been in business now two years and we are constantly changing and evolving
The "Bed in a Shed" bed-and-breakfast concept that you saw when here is almost complete
Visitors will be able to stay in very comfortable accommodation with great views out over our vineyard and eventually we will supply wine from our own vineyard in the B&B
It was great to be able to share a chat and half a milkshake with you
Please do drop in again soon
Best regards
Andrew Quixley
We were greeted at the front gate by Andrew himself! Typically they aren't open on a Tuesday but he did so just for us. Quaint little store with local artworks, sweets and other knick knacks, you may also get a top notch Mrs. Doubtfire impression.
Thank you very much for your review it's really appreciated
We were really pleased when we heard that you had found us via Trip Advisor
We always enjoy having people in who come from a long, long, long way away
We have never had people from Poland in before and we really hope you enjoy your stay in Australia
While you're here may we suggest that it would be a good idea to try and cross the Nullabor, a vast open space in the centre at the bottom of Australia
Another place we would suggest visiting is Queensland we think you would really like it up there except that there are a lot of Queenslanders there
If you want to experience all of Australia's climate's in one day why not try Melbourne that could be good too
Should you ever travel this far south again we would love you to drop back again we really enjoyed meeting you
By the way we forgot to mention you can't really keep that wombat as a pet while you are here
Best regards
Andrew and Carolyn Quixley
Amazing home made scones, strawberry jam and cream that would put my doctor into a tizz.
This coupled with lovely family that have a passion for service. This bodes well for the upcoming B and B .
Location is perfect
Thank you very much Brian for your review
It was a pleasure to meet you both and we were fascinated about your adventures jet boating on the rivers in Northern New South Wales
Apparently around Coffs Harbour there are some beautiful places to take a boat perhaps you should think of doing that sometime
We don't think we have had anyone come in on a tandem Pennyfarthing before and that was so unique seeing you both come up the road we will never forget it
Please do come back and visit the Clare Valley there is so much to see and so much to do
Thank you for your advice on our new Bed and Breakfast business it was much appreciated
See you next time
Kind regards
Andrew and Carolyn Quixley
This attraction is a refreshing change of pace from the wineries of the Clare valley. Owned and operated by Andrew, a man with a wickedly cheeky sense of humour and the "gift of the gab". If you want to take something home from the Clare valley, other than wine, you will find it here! From arts, crafts, handmade jewellery and gifts to lollies and Devonshire teas.....Andrew supplies it all. He may have to duck out for school pickup around 3.30pm though! :)
Thank you very much Deb for your trip advisor review it is very much appreciated
I was amazed to hear that they had added scuba-diving to the Masters games
It's really fantastic that you came second out of 320 divers
I must admit when I met you you didn't seem nearly old enough to be participating in the Masters games
By the way I loved your numberplate on your car had you thought about having it done in a yellowy colour?
Love to see you again when you visit the Clare Valley
Best regards
