I visited Shaker Village Ky this past week with my elderly mother. Unfortunately, none of the buildings except the restaurant are handicapped accessible. Also, only three buildings were open for touring and the amount of history was scant in both of the buildings. Would be nice to invest in a more comprehensive tour of the entire grounds and have greater amount of historical facts to read in each building. Would be nice to have tour guides dressed in historical clothes to enhance the atmosphere of Shaker traditions. We stayed at one of the Shaker houses and enjoyed the ambience of how the Shaker's really lived. Also, enjoyed the quality of the restaurant on site.

Room Tip: seems like rooms from East side have better view of country-side

A day excursion into the history of the Shaker Village plus a riverboat trip on the Kentucky River was a day to remember. Competent guide with good knowledge both around the village and along the river. An excellent day but we could not get into the restaurant as it is so popular.

We stayed one night and the room was amazing. It was a very old room with simple furnishings and it was so relaxing and peaceful. The mattress on the bed was memory foam and there was down comforter which made for a very restful sleep. I cant explain just how relaxing the stay was , so nice to get away from all of the problems of the world I highly recommend the In. The restaurant was a totally different story . We have dined there many times and it was always good until this time. There has been a menu change and gone are the traditional things like the famous shaker corn pudding and the tomato celery soup in addition to several other dishes. It appears they have gotten away from the more traditional Shaker food and attempted to make the dining more upscale. My husband ordered crispy chicken which was a small piece of chicken served on top of a small serving of sucotash for $21.00 he said it was just ok and a very small portion aside from that there was maybe 5 other dishes to choose from . I decided just on soup and got the cream of broccoli and it was horrible. The waitress was amazing and she tried to help and I ended ordering chicken tenders from the kids menu because there just wasn't a good selection to choose from . It's really unfortunate that the food has been good for the past 10 years since we started going there just for the food and they took something that wasn't broken and tried to fix it

Our family usually visits Shaker atleast once a month. There is always something going on. Their Easter egg hunt is always fun and there is no fear of little ones getting run over by the older children. Food trucks and the resteraunt are always good.

Stayed overnight so had Dinner & Breakfast. Reservations essential. Good simple cooking and nice service. Was a good mid trip stopover. Not the largest menu but the food tasted good and ambiance was very nice.

Room Tip: includes shaker village entry fee but that closes at 5pm so arrive a couple hours ahead.
