I thought Marriott was supposed to be a higher end hotel chain. This Marriott is no where near that. I have stayed here the past two nights and it has been a horrible experience. The center of the hotel is open to the lobby. Every night there has been large, loud crowds in the lobby keeping me awake until 1:00am. I asked to be moved to a higher floor and could not be accommodated. You can tell they tried to update the rooms but the furniture is old and the shower is small and dark and there is no fan in the bathroom. The room smells musty and old. Internet access is spotty at best.
One person in my training group reserved a room more than a month in advance and arrived at 9pm to check in. Despite her reservation they had overbooked and were going to put her in a closet on a cot!!! How ridculous is that? After complaining, it turns out they did have rooms available, their higher rate rooms and rather than eat the cost on their overbooking mistake, they would rather her stay in a closet with no bathroom? Is that even legal?
Everytime I have spoke to the Front Desk for assistance, I get no help whatsoever and I understand its the company line but if you haven't helped me, do not end with "my pleasure". It's your pleasure to not assist me??
Check out the Embassy Suites across the street. 2 people in our training group are staying there, they have a larger room, free happy hour, free full breakfast for $30 less every night than the Marriott.
