We were in Hutchinson and stopped to look at some of the shops. For lunch, we stopped at Carriage Crossing Restaurant. Our meals were delicious and very reasonably priced. Each meal comes with warm homemade bread, what a treat. The servers were exceptionally pleasant and very attentive. Also, have a small gift shop in the same building. If you are anywhere close to Yoder, it is worth a little extra driving just to eat at this restaurant.

Carriage Crossing is located in Yoder KS, which can be found b/t wichita and hutchinson off highway 96th, or highway 50. Yoder is a small amish community, but if you're bored in KS, you may want to visit this unique town, and Yoder Meats across the street from Carriage Crossing.

first of all, carriage crossing has the best restaurant breakfast i've ever had. i always get the western omelette, which is filled with cheddar cheese, onions and green peppers that've been grilled impeccably, and Yoder ham that bursts with smoky flavor. That includes wonderful homeade biscuits that are like little cakes i like to slather in honey.

I also enjoy their chicken fried steak for lunch, with mashed potatoes and cream gravy--best CFS's around, and everything is homemade. Their fried chicken is equally as good. However, the vegetables are frozen i think--at least the green beans can be a little rubbery. Their salads are scrumptious, with homeade croutons and homeade dressing--i like the bleu cheese. Service is always fast and friendly. This is a great place to take an extended family, as they have family deals and large tables. the atmosphere is nice, and interesting if you'd like to learn about the amish or mennonite heritages. If you like homecooked meals, this is the best restaurant homecooked meal you can get, if you don't mind the drive.

Excellent home cooked style meals. The best rolls and mashed potatoes ever (well that is from someone from the West Coast :) )
