“only good after heavy rain”

Reviewed 6 April 2018

Its a hidden gem when the water is flowing, its definaly a cool waterfall if its flowing, and its only flowing when the lake is overflowing. It is a large spilway so dont go during a dry season. and be prepared to hike a litle its not right off the road and its not clearly marked on the roadside.

This is one of the tallest and prettiest waterfalls in Kansas. Be sure to wear tennis shoes or hiking boots if you want to get down to the bottom of the falls, because it's pretty steep and there's not much of a trail. I think I saw some poison ivy, but I'm not 100% sure.

Beautiful small impoundment in a picturesque Flint Hills setting. Good fishing and great place to relax.

I have hiked and fished in and around this lake for years. It has a very good fish populations of saugeye, crappie, and bullheads. In addition, the scenery around the lake and the hiking trails as well as the dam and waterfall offer an quiet relaxing day of hiking, camping, boating, etc.
