“Quiet. New. Concrete pads. No trees”

Sand Hills State Park
Reviewed 11 August 2017 via mobile

While the campground was empty and no trees, it has very nice bathrooms, nice picnic tables, great breezes during hot weather, you get to it on pa ed roads and park is paved with the majority of site concrete. Only $22 per nite. Close to town. Has walking and horseback trails as well as horse pens at certain sites

We called in advance and even made a reservation but were never told that the facilities would not be unlocked until the first of April. We arrived in late March, set up our camper and then walked over to check out the bathhouses which were completely locked. As we do not have a usable shower available to us in our own unit, a shower was a necessity. There was no one on site to inquire about this situation or to ask about getting a refund for the 6 nights we'd payed for in advance. Fortunately the next morning we were able to call and were granted a full refund due to the inaccurate information we'd been given before arriving. The campground is VERY new with practically no mature trees, therefore NO shade. There is a nice, small man-made lake lined with rocks and some Canadian geese who have taken up residence there. In time it will probably be very pretty. Some of the pull through sites, w/o sewer hookups, are situated such that the elec/water hook ups are placed between the lake and the site which means your RV would be blocking your view of the lake. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they did this. The back-in sites that have full hookups all have cement pads and provide picnic tables, grills, lantern hooks and plenty of space between sites. Right now this park is way too new to really be nice but in time might grow to be nice.

Need a quiet place to get away? This is it. Easy access but yet quiet and serene. Great facilities as well. Close enough to town to get what you forget.

Beautiful new facilities! Pull-thru camping. Water, electric and sewer available. Corrals for your horse. Horse trails are thru tall grass sand dunes. Flat easy riding.

This is a full facility camping park. Electrical hook ups and nice restrooms with showers. A small lake for fishing and real close to Hutchinson for the convenience of shopping or what ever you need. My grandson has had his birthday camp outs there the last two years.
