Happen to be passing by with my partner and I really wanted something quite particular to eat,but wasn't sure what. Saw the Royal Oak and decided to give it a ago as it looked beautiful on the outside.

Staff were pleasant, I ordered a standard fish and chips and my partner ordered a beef and stilton pie.

My fish and chips definitley was not an ordinary dish. Presentation was on point and the the fish portion was proportionate to the batter.

My partners pie was overflowing with delicate pieces of beef which fell apart so nicely when he put his fork init.

Ratatouille was definitley working hard in the kitchen that day.

We had asked a friend, whom we wanted to meet, to recommend somewhere for a Sunday carvery near his home and this was his choice. We booked a table, very important, and the food was delicious. Meat beautifully cooked, numerous vegetables to choose from and very good gravy (have tasted some awful versions elsewhere).
Not only that but the deal included a dessert which I actually could not manage but the men did find space.
The pub was creatively decorated yet cosy and the surrounding area was delightful so now thinking of taking the caravan and visiting the area in greater depth. This would of course include a further meal at the Royal Oak.

I really can’t complain about the food - it is incredible. Meat cooked to perfection, fresh and varied veg selection, good gravy and a strong vegetarian alternative. Yorkshire’s are a bit hit and miss but not really a deal breaker. Best carvery in Worcester by far.

However, on Sunday just gone a group of 6 of us (30 something’s) visited to celebrate our friends birthday. My wife and I arrived early as we had previously arranged for a surprise birthday cake to be presented after the meal. Having been given the green light to present the cake to the table the waitress came and announced to the table that they had 2 cakes and weren’t sure which one it was - thus ruining the birthday ‘surprise’.

We had a good laugh at the stupidity and don’t let it ruin our day!

We will of course return ....... but probably not for a birthday surprise!

Beautiful carvery, generous portions of meat thickly cut, excellent choice of potatoes and vegetables cooked perfectly. Staff were quite attentive and friendly, other carveries in Worcester and surrounding area could learn a lot from here and having eaten here would never entertain going to the other ones, especially as they have resorted to weighing out the meat!!! Definitely will return
