Extremely friendly, professional team in a lovely modern and clean environment.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. From my arrival when the maintenance man went out of his way to help me with something through every single member of staff. As an example, I was accompanied by someone who is vegan. The chef rustled up something suitable with enthusiasm.
The spa is beautifully finished and like the rest of the hotel spotless.
The location is great and the atmosphere very relaxing.
All in all an extremely strong 4 star rating.

Grand Hotel is located at the heart of Serre Chevalier (Chantemerle), some 15 minutes away from Briancom (with medieval city centern and many castles/bastions).

There are numerous sking areas located close by: Serre Chevalier (1 min), Montgenevere (30 min), Puy St. Vincent (45 min), Risoul/Vars (1h) and Deux-Alpes (1h).

Grand Hotel extremely well located and is 1 minute (50 meters) away from the cabin station.

Hotel features standard and superior rooms. Both rooms are well quipped, nice and clean - but little bit small in size. We had hard time to figure where to put our luggages. Our superior room had a small coach/bed - which when opened would have fullfilled the floor totally. Rooms have separate toilet and bathroom (with bath), fridge (with non-alcoholic drinks), TV and extraordinary fast internet. We were on the 4th floor and had nice balcony with chairs to the sunny side.

There is fully stocked rental (good equpment) in the hotel and hotel provides lift tickets (if you plan to visit other ski locations, please remember to ask your receipt to get free day tickets included in your galaxie ski card - they forget to give us those and had hard time to get the included Montgenevere day pass).

There is a bar and set menu restaurant on the second floor. Bar is fully stocked, serves great coctails and excellent tapas portions (try the house wine - goid value for money). The restaurant upstairs has set menu (starters, main course, desert) which did not change during the week - you have five options each to choose from (it got little bit biring, as some of us har half board for six days).

The restaurant on the second floor serves the breakfast, which is excellent and has loads to choose from.

Street level there is another bar/restaurant that serves more traditional food (day time) and fondues/racklettes on the evenings (we were able to orde ”day portions” on the evenings, which was great). There is also outside patio to enjoy the afternoon sun/after ski (the patio on sexond floor is nicer, but they do not have any service on the afternoon). Their racklette is excellent (pity they did not serve Pierrade hot stone - it would make the restaurant superb choice).

The staff is extremely friendly and helpfull. They are good in english. There is even ”properly” stocked shop in the lobby, with extremely helpfull staff (handles also the rentals). We left our skis to be serviced after skiing day, and those were returned to our skiloccer next morning - and it was reasonably priced (as is the rental from the hotel).

There is both outsideparking and garage available. Those are limited in space, so you better to reserve a slot in advance.

The skiloccers are excellent, can be locked and dry your boots.

        Then the bad:
        - spa costs 10€/h additional. And it is extremely small so you need to book your time slot in advance (room has bathrope and slippers)
        - there was shortage of skiloccer keycards and we needed to ask staff to open the skiloccer doors
        - the restaurants has different prices for same things as the restaurant on sexond floor, which we found strange.
        - And they do not have wine bottleopener in the room - rhank god, we brought our own...😂

We will definately return to this hotel !

This shouldn’t be called the grand hotel. Mediocre hotel would be more appropriate, but still too generous. The service staff aren’t particularly interested in enhancing your stay. The spa costs 15 Euro just to gain entry - not what you would expect from any hotel, let alone a spa hotel.
Our room was at the street side, which meant we weren’t able to sleep before midnight, due to the noisy bars opposite. Hot water isn’t always available in the room, on two occasions we had to wait more than 30 minutes just to take a shower.

We were told that breakfast started at 7.30, but when we arrived for breakfast, the cooked breakfast food wasn’t available until 8am. Maybe the staff don’t arrive until 7.30? Not ideal if you’re planning to ski early in the day.

The hotel restaurant room is always cold. We wore jumpers to dinner, but should probably have taken our coats.

Menu translation is appalling, making it almost impossible to know what you are ordering. We ended up playing food roulette.

Lack of storage in the rooms.

        No bath

        Tv doesn’t work

No shaver socket in the bathroom

On the third night of our stay, the kitchen caused the fire alarms to go off for almost an hour. Followed by technical fault with the alarm = another night of ruined sleep. I only know that the problem stemmed from the kitchen because I repeatedly questioned the hotel reception girl who appeared to find the fact that a fire alarm had woken the guests, absolutely hilarious.

Most definitely will not stay here again.

        Exceptional Restaurant

This restaurant is located at the foot of the slopes in Chantemerle (Serre Chevalier resort).
I've been living in New York City for 4 years so I am no stranger to sophisticated cuisine and 3 star Michelin restaurants.
I tried this restaurant on a casual summer evening and also for their special Christmas eve dinner.
On both occasions I was highly impressed by the quality of the cuisine, the attention to detail in the presentation of the dishes and the decoration of the restaurant.
The staff was very welcoming and attentive, our waiter was very nice. They speak English in case you don't speak French.
The Grand Hotel is giving new polish to the old village. Give it a try!!

Now this hotel is pleasant however if you wanna sleep before 1am don't stop here . The rock band playing outside till late precludes any shut eye. Fine if you wanna party...not so if you are needing to get up next day.

Reception offer earplugs instead of investing in decent sound proof windows

        Dear David20051,
I read with a great attention your comment regarding your past stay with us. I am happy to hear that you found the Grand Hotel & Spa Nuxe pleasant. However, I was really disappointed by the comments regarding the noise disturbances.
        Here is why :
You stayed with us on July the 15th. I do know this since it was the only day in the year on which a band played outside the hotel. Because of bad weather conditions, Serre Chevalier celebrated the 14th of July on the 15th...
So what you heard was the concert for our national party.
As you can imagine, such a party takes place only once a year. We anticipated this event by offering our guests some earplugs if they needed them.
As you understood, this situation is an exception and not the rule at the Grand Hotel.
In any case, I am truly sorry that the music prevented you from sleeping and I perfectly understand your disappointment.
I do hope that you will give us another chance to show you that you can get a good night sleep in a very quiet environment at the Grand Hotel.
I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel and I invite you to contact me so that I may personnaly organise your next stay with us.
