A very pleasant lunch outside. The waitress was attentive and kind. The food was fresh and delicious as usual!

Had a lovely early dinner on a hot afternoon, the sun just over the building so the dining area is in the shade at about 5. The beet salad was filling with fresh lettuce, candied walnuts and goat cheese, perfect with Kir Royale...refreshing. My mate had the house salad and a glass of wine, the total bill with tip about $40. Pricey, but nice.
In town to be with family and needed a respite. In looking up restaurant/wine shops with good reviews, we came across Brix and decided to give it a try. It was early evening and the restaurant was quiet on a weeknight. We were immediately seated and waited on. I thought their wine list had a nice variety and prices were reasonable. I like being able to get a half or full glass to try a few different offerings. We ended up getting their grilled cheese sandwiches. I went with the savory version and my sister the spicy version. Both came with the house salad and were delicious. The price was very reasonable, $9 for each meal. It was a fun find with great ambiance.
I love visiting Brix. The wine and beer selection is fantastic, and so are the prices! I really enjoy their house marinated olives. Looking at the menu and deciding what to eat and drink is half the fun. This place really is a unique experience in Iowa City. I can't wait to go back!
Brix is a unique stop in Iowa City. Unlike every other restaurant in Iowa City, it offers delicious and different selections of soups, salads, sandwiches, along with charcuterie and cheese boards of varying types. The various wine and beer selections are paired well with any of the plates one may choose. The knowledgeable staff will help you with selections of both food and drink. Top this off with an atmosphere that is comforting, and that allows you to actually hear the conversation at your table. Brix can accommodate a modest group in the back wine room, tables to seat 4, and they also have a larger "upstairs" room for wine tastings and classes. There are also a few counter seats. The cheese and wine selections for take-away or gifting are varied and of high quality. The restaurant is locally owned.
