Our family of 5 has not enjoyed a vacation that didn't involve a family reunion or visiting family homes until a weekend in February when we used Christmas money and went on a little mini-vacation.
We drove about 80 minutes from home to get to the Resort and it was just the perfect distance for us!
When we arrived, we realized there wouldn't be parking close to a door as is usual at many hotels thanks to the location right on the Mississippi River - well they know that could be a challenge and have a bunch of luggage carts right there to help!
From the moment we arrived we were treated very kindly by the wonderful staff!
The Turret Suite was perfect for our family - enough space to spread out, very comfortable, great kitchen accommodations!
Two days in the waterpark was perfect for our 6 year old, 3 year old and 1 year old. They absolutely loved the whole thing!
Our children have already told their cousins we need to have a trip there together!
Would highly recommend.

We visited this wonderful water park last week-end with our 4 grandchildren, aged 5, 4, 3, and 2. It is the perfect waterpark for younger kids as they have 2 water slides that don't end in 3 foot deep water so if your kiddos aren't old enough to like being submerged it is perfect! They also have a larger water slide for older kids, and a smaller one for 2 - 3 year olds (even saw some younger than that on it). Also, moms and dads can ride with the kiddos on the slides if they prefer. We went on a Sat. and visited the National Mississippi River Museum right across the street before checking in (from 1 - 3ish). They have a great outdoor River Center that the kids especially enjoyed exploring so hope for a nice day! I have read about specials with the hotel including this, but didn't get one. Also, wish we would have had more time to take a beautiful walk along the river right next to the motel. We found that the water park wasn't nearly as crowded during the supper hour so it worked perfectly to not get there too early and we stayed until 7:30pm....The next day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant, packed up our belongings and went back to the waterpark for a couple more hours. (check-out is at 11:00a.m. but they have locker rooms where you can store your luggage, etc. and stay until ??? at the pool. They tell you 1:00, but didn't see anyone getting kicked out at 1:00. It was not crowded at all during the 11 - 1:00 time period. Yes, there are updates that could be done at the motel/swim park, but nothing stood out glaringly, and it looks like they try and keep it up. Everything seemed very clean and tidy. Our room was very comfortable, the sofa bed not so much, but the gkids didn't complain and slept well. Will definitely make this an annual winter get away for many more years with our gkids!

We and 2 other families stayed here for a weekend while in town - specifically for the water park option since we all had young kids with us (ages 3 1/2, 4, and 6). The waterpark was fun but pretty run down. Many locals use it and I just don't think they keep up with maintenance. The water features were all great and a good variety for our kids' ages. Just be aware that it's not the cleanest - the bathrooms were a bit gross and my husband got some kind of bacterial infection on his leg (he's prone to them - the rest of us were fine).

The hotel restaurant was pretty good. Decent variety but nothing super special. The room was also good - basic and clean.

Room Tip: No wi-fi in our room but others were were with said they had it.

Dear Claire W,

Thank you for your review of our property. Our water park is maintained daily and shut down three days a week to address all maintenance needs to include rust, painting and general cleaning. We are aware that there are areas of surface rust that still need to be addressed and they are ongoing, however thank you for bringing them to our attention.

We decided to stay here for the kids to celebrate the end of the gymnastics season and to get away. Beautiful area with a casino and a Tony Roma's next door. Upon entering, the lobby was very nice and they had a clown making balloon animals for kids on second level. Elevators move quickly and went right up to the room so kids could enjoy the Waterpark. Rooms were very good sized and nothing fancy. Beds were below average compared to most hotels. I could hear everything people were saying in the hallway! Kids did have fun at the Waterpark. Huge space with a big feature in the middle, a kiddy pool, small lazy river and tube slide. They had activities for kids at the entrance and concession stand. My opinion, this place is over priced. No extras at all except for a fridge in our room. Workers I came in contact with were nice but everything else seemed to have the "it's good enough" attitude. Call me cheap, but I was not impressed compared to what a one nights stay cost!!

The hotel is well maintained and service was top notch. Requested a roll away at reservation and it was in my room. They even accidentally brought a second one. Room was clean however very basic. Nice room for $60. Water park: Needs some updates. It was great for our 8 and 9 yr olds however bored after a couple hours. Can't say I would call this place a destination for a vacation however it was a good way to wind off the steam being cramped up in a car all day. Everything in the water park was very rusty like it was installed and turned on then never touched again. The life guards were very bored not much interaction however the snack bar inside the pool area was nice. If you are staying in Dubuque for other reasons its a great value for 1 night.

Dear Zobbo Flobby,

Thank you for your review and we are pleased you enjoyed our exceptional customer service. In regards to our water park we are certainly aware of the continuous wear and tear on are park and I can assure each week we identify areas to remove rust and paint. During periods of spring break and summer the park is open every day making it difficult to do large projects. Thank you again for your feedback.
