My only concern about this review is that it might make it hard to get a reservation. Outstanding! One doesn't find a chef/owner at your table throughout dinner almost anywhere. The pear salad is outstanding. All the entrees were great. We had the filet, halibut, and lamb. All were very good. Desert was excellent. It's not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. A great find in the Iowa City/Coralville area!

It is great to find a French-style menu in Iowa. The steaks were among the most tender we have had, although the balsamic on the filet masked what was probably great natural flavor. The salads were very good, particularly with caramelized pears. The recommended wine-by-the-glass complemented the meals well and was excellent for sipping. It would have been nice to have had bread, however. The owner served as host, chef, and server, somewhat reminding us of our favorite 6-table cafe, La Rose, on Place Dauphine. The storefront location in an "international" strip mall with a Subway, a Middle Eastern deli, an Ethiopian cafe and a Chinese buffet, makes it stand out among the culinary competition. The interior is spacious with beautifully maintained hardwood floors and quiet dinner music. Prices, about double the Iowa River Power Restaurant around the corner, also remind us of better Paris restaurants, which means it will be a destination for us only on very special occasions.

Consistent quality for over 8 years now. I lived for many years in both Paris and Tokyo, and tonight finally realized that what is so special about this restaurant is that it is French food in Japanese style: select only the best items from the French kitchen, and rather than blending with sauce and compote, combine them unadorned.

very special. The wine cellar is impeccable.

This restaurant is right on the strip we drive down all the time. We have lived in the area nearly 10 years before being referred. Chef David is you waiter and chef. Amazing food in a small quaint setting. If it wasn't set up as a restaurant the experience would feel like a special guest at a chefs house. You won't regret this experience of a meal. Make sure to call for reservations.
