We stayed here for 3 nights on our tour of the south of Sri Lanka. The hotel has a lovely setting and is near the park entrance. The staff were good, especially the room boys. The room was lovely with a great bathroom, a shame the AC wasn't great! The food and service in the restaurant was very good as was the packed breakfast. There is a nice bar area as well, either inside or outside, which was nice for a drink before dinner. The only gripe was the stray dogs that roam around the hotel. Then tend to bark and howl at night which isn't great if you're up at 0430 for a game drive. We don't know why there were barking but it made for broken nights sleep. There is also an issue with the wild elephants getting into the car park. This happened a couple of days before we visited and two cars were badly damaged. Again this is something that needs addressing otherwise people will stay at alternative hotels. Overall a lovely hotel but some issues that need ironing out.

Dear Guest,

Warmest greetings from all of us at Jetwing Yala. We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us despite the fact that dogs had spoiled your sleep. They bark whenever wild animals trespassing hotel territory which is an advance warning for all those who walks in the night and pre information of rare sighting such as leopards arrival. We know it is too much for a tired guests who needs good night sleep and we do our best to overcome the issue.

Wild elephant arrival is common occurrence at all the hotels in the area and lot of guests enjoy the sightings from their room and the restaurant or bar. We advice all the chauffeurs not to leave any food in their vehicles and there are few who ignore these advises.

We thank you for taking time to write a review with lots of compliments. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Jetwing Yala again.

So we were moved from a rat infested tent to a superior room. Room was nice and clean. The shower area was open air. So having been spooked by rats in tent, kids were not willing to step into the bathroom. Nice swimming pool and a nice view too. Saw a snake whilst walking along the dune. Other than that, it was a pretty nice stay.

Dear Guest,

Warmest greetings from all of us at Jetwing Yala. We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for the compliments on swimming pool and room. We thank you for taking time to write a review and some constructive comments. Please kindly note the rat you saw was a Kangaroo rat that lives in the tropical jungles. We being in the close vicinity of the Yala national park we are often visited by wild animals from reptiles, snakes to leopards and elephants.

Best wishes for your future travels.

Room we stayed in was a Superior Room. Very comfortable, clean and not too far from the main reception area. This is a big hotel! Some rooms were a distance from the main reception area. However all undercover, and flat walking. Bar area catered for meals bought up from the dining area downstairs. Beautiful deck for dinner under the stars. Breakfast was catered for in the bar area. All eating areas were inside or outside. Easy walk to the beach which also had turtle nests protected. We missed by 2 night for hatching. Beach had the provision for life savers on duty. Pool looked good just did not get enough time to use it. Staff excellent!

Room Tip: As far as we could see all rooms had a view of the pool and some of the ocean.

This hotel is the perfect location for a safari around the Yala Nat Park. Set on the edge of the park and the sea. The hotel has lovely spacious rooms, with huge balconies, and great views of the amazingly large pool - it's best feature. However, I have to say that the bathrooms are the worst I have ever experienced. Although they are HUGE - they are totally impractical and very, very dark. The buffet dinners and breakfasts we also found disappointing, and felt that some of the staff should be properly trained in customer service. After all - hotels are all about hospitality and serving the guests - some staff here lacked basic skills. We only stayed 2 nights, but this was plenty for me, and sadly cannot recommend nor would visit again. We did have a lovely safari trip though - but this was arranged previously via our private driver.

Check in was relaxed and friendly,we were shown to our room and round our room by a member of reception who was very friendly and polite and didn't loiter for a tip.
The room was beautiful very modern and very clean, the bathroom was a wet room, but also beautiful with fairly instant hot water.
The bed was huge and comfortable, and views from the balcony were fantastic looking over the dunes to the sea, which was just a short stroll through the trees.
Restaurant was fine nothing spectacular, but smiling staff.
We stayed at this hotel to access the national park, and was in the top two of hotels we stayed at.
