Don't bother just dropping in on your travels, group bookings in advance apparently we found as we arrived at gate and then no one in reception unless you call a mobile number. Just a tad disappointed but moved on and found other delights elsewhere
We were there for a wedding and the venue was lovely for the reception. Food was excellent as was the service. We stayed in the old Shearer's accommodation which was cheap at $75 for the night but would never stay there again. The walls are the same from when they were built and the noise of talking and movement coming from the rooms next to and near us kept us awake most of the night, not to mention what sounded like a mouse chewing something. There were no hooks to hang clothes or wet towels and no aircon but a fan so we were pleased it wasn't a hot night as we couldn't have the window open letting mossies in. The amenities however were shared with others but were clean and had lots of hot water.
We visited the Woolshed on the weekend and were surprised to discover that the tour was self guided. We spent approximately two hours and had essentially had the place to ourselves. We did not receive any guidance from anyone during the visit which was a little disappointing. Apparently there is guidance during the week and it may be preferable to visit then.
We timed our visit mid morning and it was particularly hot. It might be better to visit during the morning or later in the afternoon as the buildings could get fairly hot.
It is amazing to see how they lived and worked during the period. The Woolshed could be a great visit but we were a little disappointed.
We travelled as an older couple in early September 2019 and unfortunately it was nothing like the pictures as there had been no rain and the whole area was arid and dusty. The Woolshed itself is a nice place for a function but BEWARE of the Rustic Cabins......After 2 days travelling we arrived to a small square box with 4 old steel bunks and a wire cot bed, the window was boarded up because apparently it had been broken last week. No fan, no window, wobbly step to get to facilities. We turned around and left for the nearest town where we managed to get a motel room. Very deceiving brochures.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are disappointed you didn’t enjoy your stay at our accommodation facilities.
Like many regional communities, we are in the grip of a record-breaking drought and the dusty and dry conditions are something we are unable to control, despite our increased efforts to keep surfaces clean and maintain our grounds with very limited water.
With regards to the Rustic Cabins, our advertising lists the accommodation inclusions and true to the name (rustic cabins), the photos accurately showcase the rustic charm and *semi-renovated* interiors which *retain original character*. We understand that the damaged window was an inconvenience, however, as discussed with you during your visit, it was not boarded up. Rather, the glass had temporarily been replaced with a board (pending repairs), but the window still functioned as normal. A fan, along with an offer to change rooms, was provided when our staff talked with you about your concerns.
We were not aware that you were so dissatisfied and sought alternate accommodation, and would encourage any visitor who felt this way to talk with us.
Thank you for the feedback about the wobbly step, we will take that on board with the view of continuous improvement.
Dirty facility block.
Filthy washing machines ,have never been cleaned.
Camp kitchen very basic and dirty.
A disappointing stay,never again.
Hi Norm,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay and our facilities were not to the standard you would have liked.
We are currently experiencing very dry, dusty conditions and strong winds which are making it more difficult for our team to keep surfaces dust-free. We take your feedback on board about our facilities with the view of continuous improvement.
We encourage all of our visitors to talk with our staff at the time of their stay if they experiencing any issues. Should you decide to stay again, please don’t hesitate to chat with us about your concerns so they can be addressed at the time.
We stopped in their caravan park/ camping area for the night. The camping area is large, good sized sites, amenities are fine. They have a dump point too. They offer powered and unpowered sites.
The woolshed admission is included in the site price. It’s has a huge woolshed and lots of old shearing machines. It’s best to come when they have a open day, although you can stroll around it most days.
They have a cafe on site, open weekends only.
Thank you, Barbara, for taking the time to review our venue, accommodations and facilities. We hope to see you in the future for another stay.
