Fantastic place... could have stayed longer!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 11 Apr 2018via mobile
We stayed at Kinross Cottages for two nights in the furthest chalet away from the reception area, ‘ruins 2’. This place is wonderful, relaxed, low key and very well done all in one. The chalets are wonderfully appointed with homely wooden floors and easily our most comfortable bed of our NZ trip. Great and spacious too, and if you’re sleeping within a vineyard to a backdrop of mountains then little can be better...

Staff were really helpful and friendly, especially the Brazilian lady who served us mostly, plus the guy from Reunion that suggested a lovely walk down to the river... which we did just as the sun went down. Though we’re not wine connoisseurs, we enjoyed the $15 wine tasting plus our choice of food was incredible - the antipasti selection, lamb cutlets and salmon. Everything was spot on, including the great breakfast too (especially the orange juice and sausages!).

So all in all, an extremely lovely experience and we’d go back in a heartbeat. It’s a great location, just 20 minutes from bustling Queenstown yet a world away.

My husband, our 7-year-old and I were lucky to stay at Kinross for a week. We had the best time. This was the perfect spot to come back to after a full day of exploring. Their included breakfast was also a bonus as it was nice to get up and be able to grab such great coffee before going out! They are about 25 minutes from Queenstown, close to Arrowtown, surrounded by a number of beautiful vineyards. Make the most of it by exploring their surroundings by bike which they have for rental. The room was great; comfy bed, clean, nicely decorated and the small kitchen had everything we needed to cook our vegan dinners at the end of the day (We didn't find Queenstown that vegan friendly!) Staff was professional and friendly, always available to help if you need some local tips. Last but not least, their dog Skye was definitely one of the highlights for us. My son looked forward to playing with her every morning and it was quite sad to say goodbye! We will not hesitate to stay there when we go back to Queenstown!

Room tip: Book a couple of nights here, one night is not enough to explore their beautiful surroundings!

First up... Skye has been looking for your son since you left :) Hahaha!

We are delighted to have met you all and are really pleased that you enjoyed your first Kinross experience.
Our whole goal is to be the perfect spot to retreat to after a hard day adventuring/ tasting wine/ having fun wherever & we love that it was exactly that for you all.

Biking is a GREAT way to see the area and there are tracks everywhere now! All the way from Kinross to Arrowtown & Queenstown with an abundance of awesome stops on the way. We do rent 'cruising adult bikes' which are perfect for Gibbston and for more adventurous bikers, we can easily organise mountain/ electric & childrens bikes (or baby carriers) for your stay but please contact our team prior to arrival to set this up! Please also note that we only have a few childrens bikes (courtesy of our awesome neighbours growing fast) so get in touch with our team if you would like wheels for any little dudes/dudettes.

Our breakfast- a new addition to our offering (included in all stays) in summer 17/18 seems to be going well & is developing by the week!

Thank you for taking the time to review us.
We cant wait to see you all back here.
All our best,
Team Kinross, Skye and the ducks

If you get here it’s because you probably have driven many kilometers. So if you are ready for some kick back time, then this is the place! Spacious cottage with hip decor. Tub for two if you can! Best high speed Wi-Fi of any lodging we experienced in NZ. And if you are reading this you know how dreadful it is in most places. Little cafe is perfect for the included breakfast. Wine tasting choices are Pinot heaven. Staff make you feel like you are in their home with warm hospitality. Enjoy the outdoor palisade complete with a kick butt fireplace. I personally burned an entire forest one night as we drank our wine and chatted till the wee hours. Marvelous! Best stay in NZ says the wife. And her opinion counts!!!!

Your review made us smile HEAPS!!!
As one of our managers says... "Happy wife, happy life"!
We are super pleased to be considered your best stay in NZ and grateful that you have taken the time to share your thoughts. We have really put a lot of love into all the little details from the fireplace to Wi-Fi, Hot Tub Time Machine, Breakfast and the wine partners that we represent and it makes us so happy when it makes a difference to our guests NZ experience. We always recommend a minimum of 3 nights to our guests to ENSURE that you also get the time to relax and enjoy both the hustle and bustle of the area and also the natural, peaceful, rejuvenating qualities that our Wine region offers.
We hope that your travels bring you back to Kinross & we hope to welcome you again, soon.
All our best,
Team Kinross, Skye and the ducks

We recently booked 8 rooms for North Island clients at Kinross Cottages - the service was faultless and the beds incredibly comfortable. Highly recommend for a secluded break away from the city. Amazing wines on offer too!

Great spot for a quiet getaway in wine country. Knowledgable staff for tasting some of the local gems that don't have their own cellar doors. We enjoyed the jovial crowd of locals gathering on Friday evening (a weekly occurrence apparently) for a few drinks.

Kinross is somewhere very special. A gorgeous accommodation right in the heart of wine country Queenstown but also somewhere when we left we felt like family. Roaring fires, lovely pinot and a cottage that blew us away. Well done Lizzie and Adam.
