Here is my wife's take. She writes much more elegant than I.
Wonderful stay! We were in a one bedroom suite with 2 queen beds, staying with our 4 year old and 1 yr old baby. We requested a crib when we made the reservation and it was already in the room. The suite had a beautiful full kitchen (maybe no oven? It had a microwave, partial stove top, sink, and dishwasher along with bar seating for 2 and a desk with a chair). The kitchen faced a living room with a very comfortable couch with a chaise and 2 movable ottomans. It also had a TV and lovely window that had both sun filtering and black out curtains. The bedroom had a similar window, 2 beds, sink area and toilet/bath room. The linens were soft and cotton (no slick or scratchy polyester), the mattress and pillows divinely comfortable and squeak free (a big deal when sleeping next to a restless baby and 4 year old). Even the crib (an actual travel crib with metal frame and decent mattress as opposed to a flimsy pac'n play) was well appointed with nice cotton sheets and a small baby blanket. I am particularly grateful for the crib because the hotel we stayed at on the first night of our trip had a very cheap pac n' play, and our baby slept no more than an hour in it. I'm happy to report that we all got a good night's sleep at the Staybridge Suite in Merrillville, IN. The baby and I woke up early (as is her nature) and it was wonderful to go out and play in the living room and close the doors to the bedroom so as not to disturb Dad and big sister. At 6:30 we went down to the lobby for breakfast. What a wonderful space! Sun filtered into the dining room, there was seating to fit any need I can imagine (booths, high chairs, tables, high tops, couches in front of a stone fireplace, and a cozy room the could be closed off from the main area with wide sliders). The vaulted ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and opposite stone work and granite counters, and tasteful decor made for a very inviting space. The breakfast itself was wonderful and included waffle makers, fresh and cut fruit, crispy bacon and eggs, in addition to the usual muffins, toast, coffee, etc. My diet coke addicted husband was thrilled with the Coke fountain. The staff was also also very friendly and welcoming.
We just stayed the night, but I think we would have been very comfortable there for a longer stay. The hotel had a pool with hot tub, that we did very much enjoy. It also had a nice fitness room, business room, laundry room, and a lovely patio off the dining room with grills and tables. It seemed that they also hosted various social events.
This was easily one of the best hotels in have ever stayed in. My only negatives are that no pizza places delivered to it (apparently the was a road constitution issue) and we happened to be in a unit next to the air conditioner compressor (that served multiple units) such that there was a dull low frequency hum. I didn't notice it until I was putting the baby to sleep and I don't think anyone was particularly bothered by it, but someone sensitive to low pitch drones might be.
All in all, I strongly recommend staying here.
