Went and played Ravisloe in the late afternoon in a foursome . Archie, whomever he is, tried to run us off the course with the threat of rain. When that didn't work (since it never ranined) he ran us off the course because the official sunset was at 815 even though there're was plenty of light to let us finish the round. When I questioned him and asked to speak with the manager, he proceeded to threaten to call the police. Stay away, there are plenty of courses that appreciate golfers and the business.

Golf course would be a 4 and restaurant/bar would be a 0.
Had a group of 12 play on July 11, 2016. Golf course is great. Very well maintained, fairly difficult(if you do not hit the ball straight). No water to worry about but many bunkers. That is the good news.
After our round the 12 of us went into the bar/dining area for drinks and lunch. Waitress either was not trained or was clueless. Twenty minutes to get drinks(just beers and ice tea). (Note: the bar/dining area had only 5 other people in it). We ordered food(and had a clue that the waitress would not get the orders right by her difficulty in taking the orders). Took one hour to get 10 of 12 meals. Waitress had no idea who ordered what. At the 90 minute mark (when all 10 had finished their meals) told another waitress to cancel the last two orders (as our waitress had disappeared) as group was ready to leave. Our original waitress came back and removed the final 2 orders from bill with no explanation as to what went wrong. She then returned with 2 meals of which only one was correct. Told her to keep them. It is a shame that this venue could screw up drinks and lunch so badly. Really like what new ownership has done to updating property. Someone needs to get a handle on food service.

This is an great opportunity to play a stunning, fully restored Donald Ross course. The layout is terrific, lots of classic, identifiable Ross features, maintained in country club condition.

Not too far from Chicago by car or commuter train. Homewood station is right across the street.

The clubhouse is gorgeous, and the staff are super nice and accommodating.

Really a charming experience...

Over the years we have been to Ravisloe for many functions. The facility, in a Spanish style architecture, can hold very large gatherings, but never really feels overwhelmingly large. Their hallmark has always been, under the former and current owners, amazingly good food no matter how large or small a group may be. Though I'm not much of a golfer, the course is respectable. If you are looking for a quality facility to host virtually any size of gather this is the place.
