We’ve been lucky to visit a lot of fun places and stay in several excellent resorts and hotels. But it’s the extraordinarily rare find that pulls it all together, that someone, somehow, figured out how to create a near perfect guest experience in paradise.
But it’s obviously more than one person, it’s the team that looks after you during your stay. It’s the impeccable little touches they provide (the perfectly placed lounge chairs so you feel like a castaway, the cool towels before dinner, the way messages are delivered to your room), along with a daily welcome beyond compare.
The reviews on the site are spot on, so no need to be repetitive. What I will pair were my concerns I had about the place before we arrived, and how those were addressed.
1. The small size of the island. While we chose Mirihi for part of our celebration, I thought the island might not be big enough for us. Two bars and restaurants sounded a bit stifling, and we thought we might trip over the other guests continually. What’s strange is that the island feels much bigger than it is, with many private places tucked into palm trees, and it is rare to run into more than a handful of guests anywhere, except for the dive boats which makes sense. No shoes allowed, and every common area is wonderful, white sand.
2. The buffet. Others have touched on this, but still. A buffet? Could we really eat most of our meals at such a place? I know, it sounds snobby but we typically really like to order our food and our buffet experiences other than breakfast have been poor. The reality is that they need to to re-brand whatever this is at Mirihi, which is culinary excellence in the form of many, varied dishes, both local and familiar. The food is so incredible, credit to Alex and Fernando and the cooks behind the scenes, that it is difficult to describe. For your purposes, just view it as an absolute strength of this property versus a concern.
Go to this special place. They will exceed your highest expectations.
For fun, my wife and I attempted to nitpick and all we came up with was that their knives are a bit dull (haha that’s how desperate we were to come up with something) and the WiFi (very good) drops sometimes as you move around the resort but you can pick it up within a minute or two.
We will come back.... and we rarely revisit anywhere!!! This place is exceptional and a rare find!!! You should visit!!!
