My husband and I spent 5 days on Mirihi island. The place is truly a heaven on earth. Well trained staff, great service, delicious food, and amazing underwater world. We have seen the whale sharks, turtles, eagle rays, nemos, baby sharks and many colorful fishes.

When we have booked our vacation on Mirihi Island, we knew that this is going to be an excellent place. But the reality just outperformed our expectations. We have received a great service, we have been treated like we are special and it was very hard for us to leave.

The staff at the hotel is perfectly trained, they are thinking about every detail and you are left only to enjoy the nature, the food and your time.

We have stayed at one of the water villas and although our teenage daughter was with us, the room was big enough. It is clean and has all the facilities needed.

The food was exceptional. Great variety of excellent products, fruits seafood and meat. The service in the restaurant was great, the wine list very long and we have enjoyed the breakfast and dinner time with great pleasure.
We have been on Half Board and we made good choice as they offer all day a la cart menu and snack on the bar, so you can have your lunch any time you need according to your mood or diving schedule.
The dive center is also professionally run. Staff is helpful, careful and and very well organised.

Customer service was exceptional. They accommodate any need we had. They organised a private movie show on the beach for three of us on our wedding anniversary. Big screen, great surround sound system and popcorn, just on the beach.

As for the reef- like everything else on this island- just great! We have spent more time in the water than out of it. Very close, easily accessible and full of all colorful life Maldives has to offer.

Thank you!
.

We’ve been lucky to visit a lot of fun places and stay in several excellent resorts and hotels. But it’s the extraordinarily rare find that pulls it all together, that someone, somehow, figured out how to create a near perfect guest experience in paradise.

But it’s obviously more than one person, it’s the team that looks after you during your stay. It’s the impeccable little touches they provide (the perfectly placed lounge chairs so you feel like a castaway, the cool towels before dinner, the way messages are delivered to your room), along with a daily welcome beyond compare.

The reviews on the site are spot on, so no need to be repetitive. What I will pair were my concerns I had about the place before we arrived, and how those were addressed.

1. The small size of the island. While we chose Mirihi for part of our celebration, I thought the island might not be big enough for us. Two bars and restaurants sounded a bit stifling, and we thought we might trip over the other guests continually. What’s strange is that the island feels much bigger than it is, with many private places tucked into palm trees, and it is rare to run into more than a handful of guests anywhere, except for the dive boats which makes sense. No shoes allowed, and every common area is wonderful, white sand.

2. The buffet. Others have touched on this, but still. A buffet? Could we really eat most of our meals at such a place? I know, it sounds snobby but we typically really like to order our food and our buffet experiences other than breakfast have been poor. The reality is that they need to to re-brand whatever this is at Mirihi, which is culinary excellence in the form of many, varied dishes, both local and familiar. The food is so incredible, credit to Alex and Fernando and the cooks behind the scenes, that it is difficult to describe. For your purposes, just view it as an absolute strength of this property versus a concern.

Go to this special place. They will exceed your highest expectations.

For fun, my wife and I attempted to nitpick and all we came up with was that their knives are a bit dull (haha that’s how desperate we were to come up with something) and the WiFi (very good) drops sometimes as you move around the resort but you can pick it up within a minute or two.

We will come back.... and we rarely revisit anywhere!!! This place is exceptional and a rare find!!! You should visit!!!

My wife and I recently visited Mirihi from the United States. Everything was perfect from the lounge at the Male airport to the arrival at the island to the villas and meals. We enjoyed a whale shark excursion and snorkeling with manta rays. I was immediately struck when we arrived at the small, intimate resort by how many guests were repeat visitors. It was an unforgettable visit and expect we will make the long trip from the US to Mirihi again sometime in the future.

Just outstanding. Idyllic setting and consistently helpful and friendly staff. I have previously stayed at (and reviewed) Cocoa Island and Baros Island and Mirihi is at least equal to those two.
We stayed five nights in the two bedroom over water bungalow and did a whole lot of activities including the whale shark seeker excursion, manta excursion, spa treatments, private outdoor cinema, and curry and wine tasting evening.
The highlights were undoubtedly:
1. Curry and wine tasting evening: Even if you have paid full board, don’t miss this. Seriously, just do it. It is simply divine. Fernando Is a world-class curry chef and Urs knows more about wine than is healthy for someone so young.
2. Private outdoor cinema: We watched Grease and had a blast singing along and dancing under the stars.
Typical of all three Maldivian resorts I have stayed at, every little detail was thought out and nothing was too much trouble. If you’re a foodie, Mirihi has a better range of food that the other resorts I have stayed at and it is expertly prepared and presented.
Of course this sort or quality and service comes with a price tag, but OMG it is so worth it!
The only aspects that were a little disappointing were completely beyond the control of the Mirihi team (the weather could have been better and we didn’t see a whale shark).
I need to mention the reef. If you are looking for pretty coral, Mirihi may not be the resort for you. The reef is quite badly damaged, storm damage presumably, and nearly all of the coral is dead. However, the marine life is varied, colourful and abundant. We saw sharks, turtles, rays and uncountable fish species.
If you are looking for a top shelf Maldivian experience, it would be hard to look further than Mirihi.

Room tip: Villas over the water are romantic and provide great access to the reef but can be noisy at night with the waves hitting the poles

Dear pissandmoan,

We thank you very much for sparing the time to review your recent vacation with us here at Mirihi Island Resort!

It is wonderful and very motivating for us to read that you rate your stay in our little paradise as a “top shelf Maldivian experience” and are particularly praising our food selection, preparation and presentation.

Especially our private diving event “Curry Experience” with correlating wines carefully selected by our Restaurant & Bar Manager Urs is a truly extraordinary culinary highlight and we are glad you enjoyed your time so much. We will surely forward your great comment to chef Fernando and our entire service and kitchen team who contributed to this wonderful evening.

Furthermore, we would like to thank you very much for sharing your impression about the underwater life here at Mirihi Island Resort. Like at most of the resorts in Maldives also our house reef was truly effected by the weather phenom El Niño with its warm water temperatures as well tropical storms. Currently, our house reef is slowly recovering. At numerous spots newly grown corals, anemones with clown fish and uncountable colourful fish species, rays, turtles and other sea animals can be discovered while snorkeling around our little island. We are very glad you enjoyed the vivid underwater life around Mirihi during your stay. From our side we will continue to do everything possible to protect the wonderful natural surrounding we are blessed with to sustain this little island paradise.

We hope to welcome you back soon again in Maldives and send warm regards from Mirihi – as unique as you!

From the moment we were greeted off the sea plane, I knew I had made the right choice of resorts. For my first trip to the Maldives, I researched a lot. Priorities were snorkeling, excellent service and food, and relaxed atmosphere. Mirihi delivered. The employees are extremely attentive. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and helpful. I mentioned to them I am vegetarian and every night as soon as I approached the buffet all the meatless options were highlighted for me. I ate a little too well. Room attendant was a pleasure to talk to and even took the time to point out wildlife I would have missed while walking from my villa. The scenery is amazing and attention here is devoted to the simple but incredible beauty of the island rather than bathtubs and pools. To be honest, I considered these things a trade off while comparing resorts. However, at no point during my stay did I regret not having these amenities. Seems unnecessary and distracting in a place like this, especially if you’re traveling as far as we did. Snorkeling was never boring, the reef is large and every day I found a new section to explore. The sharks are very friendly! Do pay attention to tides, as other reviews have mentioned, which are listed in compendium for reference as certain areas can get shallow. We found it very easy to locate deeper alternative areas to access drop off though, even during low tide. Spa visit was fantastic. Dive instructor was so kind, patient and fun to talk with. A big plus for me as I am a beginner, refresher dive was full of interesting life and even a wreck on the house reef. I enjoyed the extra space and private setting in the beach villa. Two outdoor seating areas. One under trees and one on the beach. Very close to the snorkeling channel. OW was incredible as well watching the fish swim and all the stars at night on the deck, very relaxing. We had one of each. Thank you Mirihi for taking such good care of my mom and I! We had a lovely vacation. I would definitely return here.
