“Old fishing village charm in central Port Soller”

We stayed for a week and couldn't have chosen a better spot to base ourselves. With a young family we were safely hidden away just one street behind the restaurants and cafes. The old fishing village oozed character and charm and it surpassed our expectations. All in all Las Mimosas made it effortless as a family: Take a stroll up the steps above the house and shady Mimosa tree and you'll be treated to the most incredible sunsets by the old Monastery on a cliff. If you take a stroll down the steps you're treated to a panoramic view of the port, gazing out at the boats in the marina and beyond towards the soaring mountains. Plus you're moments from the shops, bank, pharmacy and supermarket! We would absolutely recommend this home, and can't wait to return.

Thank you for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. I hope you didn't have an incident with the boat trailers! The owners don't always park them very well!

“Good location”
Reviewed 16 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

The location was good near to the restaurants and harbor. The information before arriving was great, thank you for that. The bed was comfortable. So why just three stars? The indoor area did not have the same charm as the location and it seemed as it was old left over furnitures and not well thought through. The kitchen cabinets smelled really moldy and could do with a good cleaning, otherwise the house seemed clean. We only stayed two people and therefore did not have to use the extra bedroom that seemed very dark. The bedrooms are on the graound floor next to the public walkway and we did not feel comfortable leaving the door and window open while sleeping or not at home. Maybe therefore the same damp moldy smell.

Thank you very much for your review. It is always good to get feedback and I am pleased with your positive comments.
There is indeed a mixture of older and newer furniture in the property. We purchased Las Mimosas from one of the local residents and have replaced much of the old furniture. We decided to keep some of the better pieces and replace some of the less practical pieces.
I have asked our Property Managers to take a look at the kitchen cupboards and to make sure they are properly cleaned before our next guests arrive. I am sorry you found them in this state, this should not have happened.
As with many of the properties in the old fishermen’s quarter of Port Soller (Santa Catalina), the living area is upstairs and the sleeping area downstairs. This is because downstairs is generally cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The downstairs bedrooms are shaded by the Mimosa tree in our front garden. This does get pruned occasionally but we are reluctant to do anything else as it is so nice, especially in spring. Our garden is the only “front” garden in Santa Catalina and is one of the most photographed areas in the village – other than the superb views of course! In fact the steps by the front of our garden are known locally as “The Mallorcan Spanish Steps”. While I do understand your comment re not feeling comfortable leaving the door and windows open, I also feel the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. We stay a lot in Las Mimosas and, when we are out, we close the shutters but always leave the windows themselves open. This creates a cooling breeze through the property.
I’m sorry you had some negative experiences.

“Great flat”
Reviewed 27 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Great instructions to get to the flat and obtain keys. Flat looks like pictures. Very clean. Wonderful location, just a couple of minutes walk to restaurants, shopping and beach. Family of 4 and lots of rooms. Beds comfortable. remember to bring beach towels or blanket. Has outside deck and separate patio. Would definitely stay again.

“Wonderful quiet location in old section of the Port.”

My wife and I stayed a week in late March. The location is ideal for shopping and
restaurants. The bus stop is fairly close and makes it easy to explore other
places in Mallorca. The apartment is very comfortable with everything one
might need and sitting on the balcony is a treat. The owner David responds quickly to any questions. Thanks and we hope to visit again !
