The Herrington is a fairly large yet eminently quaint inn on the banks of the Fox River. It is truly a wonderful throwback to yesteryear. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms and bathrooms are well-appointed and spacious, and the views of the rushing waters of, and ducks and geese on, the Fox River really special and fun. Pay the few extra bucks for the river view rooms. But, above all, is the very special milk and cookies turndown for each guestroom in the evening. Even if you don't regularly enjoy milk and cookies at bedtime, you will this time - with an in-room fireplace.

The hotel restaurant, Atwaters, is also excellent. The location is perfect for Geneva, including shopping, restaurants, cafes, and jogging/bike trails along the river. A nice tourist destination and perfect getaway for city-dwellers.

Room Tip: Get a river view room. They have balconies and the sounds of the rushing river and views of the water fowl will instantly relax you.

Came to this property with a business retreat. I live in the city and was very impressed with how quaint this area is. Lots of great places to dine. Neat shopping in the area The hotel has a great deal of charm. Lots of couples on getaway weekends. Very romantic. Will come again for a romantic weekend!

Our stay was a Valentine's Day retreat which could only be described as exceeding all expectations. The staff, room and the amenities were perfect. The Atwater restaurant was elegant and relaxing with absolutely perfect preparation and presentation of our meal. Geneva offered within walking distance a tremendous variety of shops and restaurants that were exceptional. We plan on returning to the Herrington whenever time allows.

The Harrington, is everything you would want for a romantic getaway. Our room with the whirlpool tub, foreplace and balcony overlooking the river was lovely. We have been several times and its always a lovely stay.

Enjoyed lunch on Christmas Eve with some friends in the cozy bar area. The food was well prepared, and the bartender was attentive. I had the pub burger. The Christmas tree was beautiful and was a nice backdrop. Love the comfortable yet sophisticated atmosphere.
