It was a very nice home. The landlord and his family were very kind and friendly. We were in India for the first time and we weren’t used to the food yet, but they were very understanding and made us delicious and not spicy breakfast every morning. We also had our six children with us and that was no problem. We were there on New Years Eve and they took us to their church so that we could experience the Indian culture a bit more. We were and still are very thankful that we could stay with them and we highly recommend to stay there.
Our stay of 2 nights was enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable and were equpped with all the essentials. It is a nice house in a serene location -- just behind the apartment is the Cheruthirithy river; with lush green paddy fields about 5-10 mins away. More than anything else, what we truly liked was the warm and personalised hospitality of our host and his family --- we were treated like and felt like a part of their family. The food served (both the complimentary meals and the separately paid-for ones) was excellent-- simple and delicious authentic Kerala cuisine. That just added to the homestay experience.
Our host was extremely helpful with various arrangements for sightseeing, local transport, etc. He was extremely prompt and clear in communicating with us right from the time we made the booking, which was extremely reassuring.
For vegetarians intending to book the place, it may be useful to communicate your likes and dislikes (such as cooking of fish/ meat during your stay) in advance--- based on our interactions, I am confident the host will take care of those preferences.
To summarise, we enjoyed our stay and felt truly at home.
