Great location, waterfront view, gorgeous decor in main lobby.
Hotel built about 100 years ago, an old doors and baseboards in rooms which gives "taste" of history.
Definitely will stay in this hotel again if the price will be reasonable.

Room tip: Ask room on higher floor with fountain view.

Traveled to Chicago on June 25, 2019 to see the Rolling Stones in concert at Soldiers Field. While there in Chicago, saw the Chicago Symphony Orchestra practicing in a park near the canal leading from Lake Michigan into the city. Also toured the Modern Museum of Art located beside Soldier's Field. Had lunch in the historic Congress Hotel where up to 8 President's have stayed. The Rolling Stones, with Mick, Richard and the gang was great as we enjoyed the music with up to 60,000 others.

Room tip: The rooms in front of the parks and lake seem to be the best view upless you enjoy the view of the city.

Check-in was quick. As it was our first stay in this hotel and also booked a lake view room we were wondering about how the interior would be and view of the lake gonna be seen from the room and fortunately it met beyond our expectations. We got the room with the direct lake view point which was amazing. It was an wonderful experience. You have restaurants, metro stations, CVS nearby to this hotel. You can keep your baggages even after you checkout from the hotel. would recommend anyone to stay in congress plaza hotel.

Location is the best. Our small but cozy room looked out over Lake Michigan. We had some beautiful sunrises we woke up to. Hotel is older and a little tired, hallways could use some attention. but it was clean and quiet and everyone from concierge to the valets were courteous And personable.

It's a good thing my wife and I aren't
too picky. This hotel has the best rates around and even though I researched this hotel
before I booked it. You would think that the management actually reads the reviews and tries to upgrade the rooms when so many guests complain. Or not.....
It wasn't that bad as the room smelled clean, the bed was a little firm, but the Bathroom needed some help.
Very small and a little mold in the tub area.
I would say this hotel is average, but with the location, it could be better.
What ever you do, don't go in the dining area where they serve Breakfast!! The greeter at first put us at the smallest table in the place. When I asked to be moved, she had an attitude. The decor is so wierd and datedI I couldn't take it anymore. We left before a server arrived at our table.
All in all 1 night was fine, the location was a big plus.
I'll find another hotel if we are in the city..
