Take your kids when visiting Chicago or, if you live in the area, for a little field trip downtown. The playground is amazingly fun and creative. There is also minigolf and some other activities.

Maggie Dale Park is right across the Millennium Park. This park has a trail, a rock climbing area, a circuit for winter skating or spring biking/rollerblades and other wheeled sports.

On the far side, there is a jungle gym for the kids and lots of seating areas to rest and such.

Out of all the parks in Downtown Chicago, This park is one of the best.

I was pleasantly surprised with Maggie Daly Park. Prior to our trip to Chicago, I did not know about it. The kids loved running around, even in March, when it's a bit cold. Lots to do and see. The Upsides Down Tree area is really neat for the kids to explore, we all had a lot of fun. The setting is great, parking is simple (we pre-paid and only paid $12 for 3 hours....versus $36). Took our own lunch. I want to go back when the climbing wall, splash area, and skating ring are open...the kids would LOVE those.

Wonderful landscaping and play areas. Truly top rate design and execution. Even if you don't have a child its worth the visit. It's just lovely, with lots of whimsy included in the design. Just loved it.

Nice, unique skating rink. Gets pretty crowded, and I recommend you bring your own skates to skip the line.
