So, need to be fair here....it was April and cold, but the fountain itself is impressive, even when empty, which it was when we visited. That said, the entire structure was open - had a great base and was easily accessible to anyone walking. I am sure it would have been better in the summer when it was on and the shops were open, but it was a great experience. I recommend people visit when walking the road and the many parks that line the Lake.

I visited the fountain when it was still off but just the size and the artistic aura coming off it was amazing. The fountain is at the center of a large park, and there is a lot of seating and such for you to just enjoy the vast size of the fountain.

I would really love to come when it turns on!

This is the second time I have visited the Buckingham Fountain and I've still not seen it in operation. Apparently it is closed in the colder months. The views around it are spectacular.

Having been to Chicago several times this is the first time visited when the fountain was not running as it was still too cold to run the water. However it is a landmark of Chicago with a beautiful view of the lake on one side and great view of Chicago in the other. The sculptures and statutes are beautiful and it was quite unique to see it without the water running and it was actually more stunning this way as you were able to see more detail on the sculptures. great place to take pictures.

The fountain is a bit of a walk from downtown, but it lights up at night and provides quite a show. Pretty neat to see at night!
