I had BBQ from here today for lunch during training. The Texas spice sauce was excellent, spicy but not too over powering.

Was really surprised at my recent visit to BEAST Craft BBQ because they no longer offer "plates" unless you order the special of the day. Otherwise everything is now a la carte.Prices have increased and portion sizes have decreased. I ordered a quarter chicken and it was the tiniest chicken ever. My friend also ordered the chicken and hers was very small too. My husband ordered the brisket and it was very good and portion was ok. Always good service at the BEAST though. The line looks scary when you walk in, but you get through quickly and people are nice and eat and go.

Hey! Thank you for the kind words about the food and service.

Our menu certainly went through an overhaul, but with good reason:

1. It allows customers on a budget to order less. Gone are the days of having to commit to an entire porksteak, or half pound of meat with two sides.

2. With all the national and local attention we’ve been getting, it allows those wanting to try many things at once an avenue to do so without spending an absurd amount of money. The previous menu had no options for that.

3. It allows us to continue to innovate by bringing in the best heritage breeds available. We are now the only restaurant in the nation serving Compart Duroc hogs across the whole menu. We’re also the only smokehouse in the region serving Wagyu, which has also become a staple - an item that if paired with two sides would not be palatable for some customers in a counter-service setting.

4. It allows us to improve our sustainability by offering market value prices for all items. Sprouts, for example, have dropped significantly as of late.

Did you know that you can get a Duroc pulled pork sandwich on our menu for $4 right now? There are currently many options on our menu like that. BUT... I will not deny that buying a pork steak with 2 orders of sprouts will cost you significantly more than it used to, and rightfully so. If we kept the menu in its previous format, we would have had to remove both the pork steak and the sprouts from the menu.

Also, I want to reassure you that the normal portion sizes have not decreased. We have, however, allowed smaller portions to be purchased on this menu for smaller prices. The 1/4 chicken for $5 is a great example of that concept.

Hope this helps. Thanks for the review.

David

The best bbq pork steak and candied bacon! Have also loved the bbq pulled pork
and brisket. Seating is only for about 60
persons at the most. Always a crowd.
Gave 4 stars because of feeling rushed to eat and leave for other waiting patrons.
The manager picks your seating and flow
of tables. Little bbq shack, nothing fancy.

Hands down the best BBQ place in the STL area. We eat here regularly and they never disappoint. I love their pulled pork, pork steak and brisket. Their sides are awesome too. The potato salad is my favorite, followed by the baked beans. This place doesn't disappoint!

We were in town visiting a friend, went to a couple other BBQ joints in St. Louis and they were all great, but this place was our favorite. Between our whole party we tried just about every meat they have and they were all phenomenal. The soda fountain had only regional sodas, which was a neat feature. They were very busy while we were there, but the wait wasn't very long. We would go back in a heartbeat.
