Visited twice recently. Nice setting looking out on the downs. Good staff, gentle service. Dog friendly. Interesting menu, interesting starters. Fireside.
The menu isn't extensive but its changed and there should be something for everyone. Some lo-cal dessert would be nice. I'm sure your creativity could stretch to that.
Hearing Aid friendly-deaf aware. Wooden floors, and furniture , very little metal and glass. Some areas have curtains and soft furnishings. Sound absorbed but coffee machine is loud
Thanks both visits were restful and enjoyable.

Booked a table for Saturday evening to celebrate my sons birthday. We were disappointed with the limited menu. I ordered sea bream when it arrived it was a pile of runner beans with the sea bream on top cover with a saws and no sign of the potatoes which the menu said were part of the meal. When I cut into the sea bream it was quite badly burnt and that was all you could taste. Over all very disappointed and will never return their again.

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch and although the food was very good,it took a long time to arrive. Also the table that we should have had was taken by another party. Would have been a good idea to have people's names put on the table so there is no mix up.

We have eaten here twice in the last month or so. The first time was on an extremely busy Sunday and we had Ham egg & chips. The ham was locally sourced and very tasty. However, most pubs give you 2 eggs with the ham so for a small extra cost to you, you would have many more satisfied customers
On our next visit we went with another couple for a mid week evening meal and I had the delicious Goats Cheese starter followed by Fillet of Sea bream, green beans, saffron cream with crab and diced Folkington potatoes.
This was served as a tower of food with everything piled on top of the beans. The good-it was a very tasty sauce and fish. The bad-I think the fillet was only one half of the fish. The diced Folkington potatoes were four cubes the size of a dice mixed in with the sauce. So although it was a nicely cooked meal I felt that I could have had another portion. Now I am not a big eater and sometimes feel that many pubs serve quantity over quality. This was the opposite. Please lose the trendy tower and place all the ingredients separately on a plate, and let us have a decent portion of those Folkington spuds folks.
We found the service on a mid week summer evening OK but on our first visit on the very busy Sunday lunchtime it was disorganised. They had plenty of staff but were somewhat overwhelmed by the situation. This was caused partly by having to pay for your meal at the bar rather than at the table.
Other good things about the pub are its location and the nice view from the dining area .
We would like to have another summer evening meal here next year so lets hope some small improvements can be made to what is a very pleasant pub.

Sat in the garden for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Fairly busy but the food came quickly and was really nice. Table service outside too which you don't see all that often. Have been a few times before and has been consistently good.
