We spent three nights at Jenny’s Runestone House. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom, (#4), which had ensuite bathroom. The room was quiet, clean, and the bed comfortable. We were able to control the thermostat to give us more warmth in the bedroom and bathroom when needed. The shower was a bit tricky to use and the décor a bit dated, but the B&B met all of our basic needs. Wendy was incredibly welcoming, and offered the use of the washer & dryer one night, when we were the only guests, which we greatly appreciated. There was a fridge on the main floor which we could use if we needed, and there were a number of locally crafted gifts and photos for sale.
Hay Cove is a small, rural village, about a 5 minute drive from L’anse aux Meadows Viking settlement, and a re-enactment Viking settlement down the road. Lots of hiking trails near by. We were thankful that we came when we did (the end of September), as local restaurants began closing for the season in early October. Apparently in May, there are icebergs that come down from Greenland. Many thanks to Wendy for your lovely hospitality and welcoming us to your home.More
