“Friday night dinner”

Four of us went here for dinner on a Friday evening around 7pm. The service was not good; had to run down a server to get menus and later to ask for some water for the table. Drinks were weak and our server refused to go to the bar and inquire about a certain beer one of us wanted. Our dinners were bland but piping hot of course. I ordered a beef tostada and what showed up was basically one 4" round tortilla chip, a thin smear of beef? beans? Couldn't tell because it was entirely covered with shredded lettuce. Zero flavor. Got tired of searching for the actually tostada and gave up. Our server never checked back with us to inquire how everything tasted or if we needed anything else. Search elsewhere.

We generally have our normal restaurants in McCall to have breakfast, brunch and dinner but we never considered good Mexican food there. This trip to ready our cabin in Cascade, we were ready for some comfort food and Chapala's met the challenge! The margarita was perfect, my combination plate was full and my wife's Brunch was perfect for her. We had a table outside by the rail for a great view of the lake and all the water activities that happen there. Our server was attentive and personable even with the rush that hit right after we sat down. It was so good, we bought a gift certificate for our son and his future bride when they are there for a night cruise and a mini-moon in a couple of weeks. If you are in a rush, go to subway up the street, but if you want to enjoy what mother nature gives us and a drink or two and food, give Chalapa's a try!

I go to Chapalas at least once a year and they never disappoint. Yes, it is a cheaper Mexican restaurant, but their food is great, they have the absolute primo view, and their staff is so kind and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend for some after boating fun.

Awful, awful, rude, slow service. Our food took forever to arrive and was just okay. The view from the balcony was gorgeous but the service and food was not worth returning. Note: we were there for an early dinner and there was no wait until we left almost an hour and a half later.

The food at Chapala's is as good as it is in the Boise area. They have the regular Mexican fare and the combination plates had plenty on them and good tasting to boot. The service was ok, and I couldn't have asked for much more. The crowds were light when we were in there and it was nice having a seat to see out over the lake. I'd go again
