“Beautiful and peaceful!”
Reviewed 22 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

La Peruse was a perfect place to stay. A cosy living space with beautiful views. Trevor and Ugne were very welcoming. Very helpful with attractions and places around France. I couldn't complain about 1 thing, would definitely go back, a perfect place to take children as well!

“Charming period cottage”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

My wife and I much enjoyed our 5-night stay in this lovely end-of-terrace property. It has lots of original features but has been sensitively modernised to give you all the creature-comforts you need. The bedroom is large, the bed extremely comfortable, and the adjoining shower room/WC is very well appointed. The kitchen is well equipped (but note that the solid fuel white cooker seen in the photos is decorative - cooking is on a 4-burner hob and/or microwave). There are two other gites, the owners' house and two other properties on site (soon to be three others, as a new bungalow is under construction across the yard). The owners' huge garden is lovingly tended and you are encouraged to use it; the pool and barbecue area are also available to guests. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Wi-fi is only available from the owners' terrace, not inside the gîte. One thing to bear in mind - the staircase is in original condition, rather steep and narrow with worn treads so not ideal if you are less than nimble. Things to do in the area: a Roman bathhouse archaeological site at Chassenon (only open in high season), a fine modern art gallery within the chateau at Rochechouart, and a railway preservation site at Confolens. Excellent lunch at the "Entr'côte & Ocean" restaurant next to the closed station at Ansac-sur-Vienne, and a simple meal in the shop/bar just 3km down the road at St Quentin.

“Lovely cosy hideaway”

La Peruse is a beautifully presented gite with a wood burner and an immaculate upstairs bedroom and bathroom. The hamlet is tiny and quiet and really is a peaceful haven after a busy day of sightseeing. The hosts, Trevor & Ugne, live next door and are always on hand if you need anything (firewood etc), but aren't intrusive and have great local knowledge to tap. The bonus was being able to bring our dog too - he loved it! We would definitely stay here again!

“Lovely old farm buildings in a quiet rural setting.”

My Wife and I stayed at La Peruse for the last two weeks in July 15
the weather was in the high 20s really hot. The property though very old was totally modernised very comfortable
and spotlessly clean.
The owners Trevor and Ugne are a charming couple.
While never intruding if asked were always prepared to take time to offer help or advice.
There is a lovely covered barbecue area and a pool which we loved to sit near in the
evenings with our glass of wine until sunset.
The nearby lake is lovely with white sandy beaches restaurant café picnic areas and life guards. While there are lots of attractions our top three would be.
La Grotte de Villars a fairy land of caves
Rocamadour a village built on the edge of a cliff
Oradour sur-Glane The martyrs village preserved since a German massacre

“A beautifully restored, cosy and comfortable cottage with loads of character.”

A lovely place to stay with friendly and helpful owners. The cottage has lots of character and is in an excellent location for exploring the area - the owners had great suggestions for places to visit. Very comfortable accomodation. It is in a lovely rural position - great views, near to the lakes, with many walks and cycle paths nearby - but near to towns for amenities.
