Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge is a beautiful and relaxing place to spend a weekend when in South Georgia. We camped in a travel trailer while in the area. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The campground was well maintained with a modern and clean bath house. We did not eat at the on site restaurant but riding by one night the fried chicken smelled great! You can also play golf at the course which appeared well maintained. We did walk one of the two marked trails which was interesting. I would suggest the addition of a third shorter loop for those wanting to keep the walk under a mile. Unfortunately, the lake was almost dry and access to it was closed. Hopefully, this is a temporary situation which can be remedied by some extra rainfall. The visitor center at the lake was also closed which was a disappointment, looks like a good volunteer opportunity! Originally built during the depression, it has many beautiful old shelters and buildings which take me back to my childhood.
This place is great. The rangers and staff were very friendly. My only issue is that they only have 4 full hookups with 50 amps. I have a Class A motor home and I need the 50 amps. You cannot reserve a spot, you can only make a reservation and you hope that one of those spots are empty when you get there. Range Jody was fantastic and the kids painted rocks etc. Nice area to walk around and very peaceful
We stay at the campground almost every year and it is always very nice. It is quiet and peaceful. The campsites are large and level. We usually stay only for one night on the way to Jekyll Island or Florida. Our last stay was in October but have also stayed in February. Great golf course there also.
We were a Vendor For the Spanish Moss Festival And we were Treated so well even though The Festival was not so big we would love to come back next year as a Vendor and serve the Park again Lettuce Roll Loved Meeting you all.
I have stayed at this park about 4 times. I have stayed in the lodge rooms and the cabins. Hands down, Cabin 4 is the best for air conditioning that works well enough to cool the whole cabin but the beds are hard. Cabin 3 is a one bedroom with more comfortable beds, but a mediocre air conditioner. It also had a roach issue when we were there. Cabin 6 is average a/c and beds that aren't the best. The rooms are outdated, but the beds are decent in a budget motel sort of way. The prices are very high after the ownership changed hands. There are pet friendly cabins and rooms but the pet fee is about $40.00. Since the cabins are tile floored, I am not sure what extra cleaning is involved or why they charge the fee. In all bathrooms there is significant mildew. Being from Florida, I totally understand the humidity issue, but it wouldn't take much to improve the cleaning. All of the floorboards need perhaps the top layer of dirt knocked off too (in all of the accommodations).
There is plenty of parking for vehicles and the cabins have space for a trailer if you need it. Cabins also have picnic tables and grills (charcoal)
They do offer a discount for 100% disabled veterans. A veteran with that rating will need the letter and the military i.d. card to claim the discount. No discount for any other veterans. There is also a discount for "seniors".
There is an additional fee to drive on the road to get to your cabin or room.
There is a small pool and a golf course.
The restaurant is reasonably priced but the food is average.
Good selection of food on the buffet. It is well seasoned and good flavor. Always. A good crowd here.
