We stayed here for our first simply because it was finally available. We loved listening to the sound of the river right off our deck. It is right in town to make exploring all the shops in Helen even easier. I would go back again for sure.

Wonderful, clean, enjoyable place to stay at the Helendorf River Inn and Conference Center at 33 Munich Street in Helen, Ga. Can walk to all the shops, free parking, too.
Friendly staff. We stay here every time we go to Helen! Wish we were there now! We love to sit on the balcony and watch the tubers float down the River. Love listening to the water ripple on the rocks. So relaxing.

Room Tip: We like the second floor with balcony facing the River. Very relaxing!

My family of 7 visited Helen, GA during its annual Chrstkindlmkt. While it's not Europe, it was a quaint little town, offering several fun things to do, with great food. You won't regret the trip. The Helendorf was clean, central to town, and provided the basic amenities we needed. It is situated at the river, which offers a nice view and the sounds were relaxing. I would recommend the Helendorf to anyone planning a stay in Helen.

Our room was right on the river on the third floor. The view was beautiful, but very noisy. We also found that quiet time is not enforced on the premises which is an issue when travelling with small children. There were people partying right outside our room until well after midnight. The balcony furniture was plastic and left a lot to be desired. There was also not a table to put things on when out there. It was such a nice balcony that it is a shame not to be comfortable out there. The room had a lot of space which was nice for our family of 5. We brought a play pen for our 3 year old to sleep in. The continental breakfast was convenient and very basic (cereal, bagels, muffins, honey buns, etc). The kids loved the steps leading directly to the river and enjoyed playing in the river. The pool was small but clean and we enjoyed it. Next time I will ask for a riverfront room on the bottom floor. The room was very clean and cute. It definitely fit the theme of Helen. The staff was very friendly.

The Helendorf Hotel is an older hotel built in the 1970's. The rooms have recently been renovated. We found our suite to be large, very clean and accommodating with a small oven, refrigerator and microwave. There was also a table with chairs for extra seating and dining. We had a 3rd floor room with a balcony overlooking the Chattahoochie river rapids. It was great fun to stand on the balcony and watch the mass of people tubing down the river try to negotiate the rapids. However, it was a little loud with the giggling and squealing of the people enjoying their tubing experience. If you want to sit on the balcony and enjoy the serenity of the river during the day in the summer, you are out of luck.

The Helendorf is located in an excellent location in Helen within walking distance of many restaurants and downtown shopping.

We enjoyed our visit very much.

Room Tip: A balcony room overlooking the river would be ideal.
