For Dec. 9-10, 2015, we booked boat tours with Okefenokee Pastimes. Our host was Steve Knight, owner, who is both a knowledgeable naturalist and an all-round great host. We stayed in one of the small but clean and well-furnished cabins on the property, located directly across from the Folkston entrance to the refuge. It was a great time of year to visit - no bugs, lots of interesting wildlife and beautiful colors of fall in the swamp and along the river. Once into the trip, Steve turned off the boat's motor and we cruised In blissful silence under battery power. M husband and I felt we had the best possible introduction to this wild and beautiful world.
