Wow! How can the scenery in the same park change so frequently? The view, the terrain, the grade, the bears! Well marked with frequent blazes. We were exhausted and thrilled. Best trail I've ever hiked!

We visited this on Memorial Day weekend. It was a day trip. We did three hikes. The lake is nice and the hike to CCC tower is a good one. It was a pleasant outdoor trip.

Spent most of the day here, hiking the loop to the fire tower and overlook. We were very fortunate to have a park ranger that told us the story of the history of the tower and about the "stone heart" and how it came to be. We had already done a little research on this park before visiting so we knew about the heart and found it on the tower. We decided to take the yellow trail walking up the stairs to the stone wall to see these ancient ruins. On the way down we went by the overlook to take in the magnificent view of the mountains and valleys. After our hike we used the picnic area near the parking lot. Very nice and clean with restrooms. We drove through the campgrounds and lake area. It was very crowded with cars parked everywhere, making it hard to navigate. We wanted to check out the mini golf course, but because of the crowds we didn't get to. We did see people out on the paddle boats having fun. We will definitely be back on another visit to do these activities, hopefully it won't be as busy the next time. We did go here on Sunday over Memorial Day weekend. Very popular place!!! When we left the park, cars were waiting to go into the park.

There is a $5.00 park entry fee. However, we had planned ahead and picked up a free park pass from our library for free admission to the state parks. A great way to spend a day with family and not break the bank!

We rented Cabin No 6 during our kids' spring break this past April. We took our 50lb dog and since the cabin was a pet-friendly cabin, I was expecting a dive of a room, but I was pleasantly surprised. The ca in was updated, well-furnished and very clean. The staff was very helpful and the park was very peaceful. We hiked with the kids' and the dog and had a relaxing long weekend.

Check in was easy and fast. The staff was helpful and friendly. The camp site was very wooded and large. You were almost too isolated. They helped the bath house and grounds very clean. I would give the camping area a 4 star. The lake was beautiful and it had a trail that circled it. The park had very good hiking trails that were well maintained.
I was disappointed in the mountain bike trails. They were old service roads that were not used very often.
Overall it is a good place to camp.
