Owner description: Join Odyssey Cruises for a 1 & 1/2 - 2 hour trip down the Anclote River into the Gulf of Mexico. This trip is fully narrated by our Captain. Dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, fish, tropical Foliage and water birds are common sights on our afternoon cruise. An optional shore excursion is available to disembark at the Historic Anclote Key Lighthouse on Anclote State Preserve. Here you can explore the island view wildlife up close, go swimming, or walk the beach looking for precious shells. NEW - We having shelling only trips. Spend the entire time on the island looking for shells. See website for schedule.

The crew was both knowledgeable and funny. We all that they and we had hoped (No dolphins) but the crew filled in with other sites and information. The island stop for shelling was excellent. Our friends and we had a great time.

Took the 1 hour first, our guide was very knowledgeable. He told us a lot of facts about the area, and the sponge docks. Saw three dolphins. The 2 hour takes you to the island to collect shells or jump in the water. Most people collected shells. Not much time given for shell collecting. They provide approximately 1/2 hour. Didn't see any dolphins but that was ok. We still had s great time.

We arranged for a 10:30 am departure for a 2 hour Dolphin Adventure Island Tour. New boat that has a restroom if needed, and serves drinks and snacks on board. The boat was about 75% full for the early departure on a Sunday. There was the Captain and a Naturalist on the crew for this sailing. The naturalist was very knowledgeable on the history of Tarpon Springs early history and as we went down the Ancolte River, pointed out numerous Osprey Nests on the river. First stop was shelling on the Ancolte Key, a Florida State Park only accessible by boat. For a short 30 minutes on the island, we did find a lot of shells (Treasurers as my wife would say) on the beach. After leaving, we sighted a family of Dolphin and followed them for 15-20 minutes, then headed back to the sponge docks were this tour begins. Two hours of fun in the sun for $18.99 each for adults, Children, Seniors and Military pay less.
