Want to take a trip back to the days of old? This hotel has it all! Gorgeous decor from crystal chandeliers to beautiful wood accents everywhere. The bar is stunning and the drinks and tapas were excellent but pricey if you request something other than well drinks. The bartender was gracious and fun. This was a mother/daughter trip and we enjoyed every moment there. Lovely rooms ,nice beds. The beds are firm. If you are a big TV watcher the TV is relatively small. We went during the week so the Sapphire Room was not open. Will definitely go back! Check Trivago. We got a great rate.

Room Tip: We were on the 9th floor fairly close to the elevator but we didn't hear it at all.

I had to drag my luggage up two flights of steps in order to check in. The Floridan Palace Hotel has a responsive front desk (they quickly switched me to another room when the original one I was given smelled of cigarettes and all my wake up calls were on time) and two attractive bar areas. The room was clean and my King bed comfortable. The room lacked a comfortable chair for relaxing. They could definitely be more generous with soap! But I could never figure out how to unlock the safe and the door to my room would not lock properly at first and then could only be unlocked with difficulty! The Floridan does not serve breakfast, most of the nearby cafes and restaurants were closed, so I had to walk for a bit to grab a meal before heading to the Tampa Convention Center (a 15-20 minute walk) for a conference. There is an expensive crystal laden dining room/restaurant on the premises but I never ate there.

Nice big old style downtown hotel. We got upgraded to a suite on the top floor which was great. The room was clean and very spacious. It is obvious that the hotel could do with some upgrades but kind of like the old style hotels even if the wear shows a little , as long as it's clean and th bed is comfortable .

First impression of this hotel was WOW, original Art Deco. A throwback to a different time when beauty in architecture and decor was valued. Stunning lobby, wrought iron, crystal chandeliers, coffered ceiling with rosebuds (?) in relief, then wood-paneled elevators with marble floors, vintage mail chutes even. Thick, plush carpets in the hallways. We had a king room and our jaws dropped when we walked in. Lofty high ceilings, dark wood, navy and gold colour scheme. Ours was a corner room on the 6th floor (I want to say 607) and we had three windows. The A/C above the door was a bit anemic for the size of the room - it worked sufficiently well enough for us, but it was March. In the heat of summer, it might struggle.

Our check-in was quick and flawless. Parking is in a lot adjacent to the hotel. We went for Happy Hour at the lobby bar and sat at the bar. Our bartender (Kelly I think) was super friendly, engaging and very helpful for directions and recommendations. The Sapphire Room is only open on weekends, too bad for us.

The only criticism/flaw is our king bed was beyond uncomfortable. And I generally prefer firm beds; this was hard as a rock. It felt like sheets were wrapped around a thin piece of foam set on a plywood platform. Or maybe they had the boxspring on top of the mattress by accident. It was BAD. Neither of us could get comfortable, and each time one of us moved the whole bed shook; waking up the other. Everything else was perfect, but the fact that neither of us slept more than a couple hours because of the bed, I would say stay somewhere else.

Non-working key cards, had to replace 4 times. Had to switch rooms due to broken air conditioner and huge block of ice in the mini fridge. Black hairs all over bed. Asked to them to change linens, they never did. Front desk attendants were rude. We were incredibly disappointed.
