Owner description: Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

Have a day? This is a wonderful day trip. Try to be the first one in, when they open and run to the primates, they are very active in the mornings. Plenty of parking (even across the street)Fair pricing for this very large zoo. I love zoo's and it's up there with DC's National zoo (without the hills) and san Diego, Cincinatti and many others. (No, not better than the Bronx Zoo) Here, you can walk with kangaroos, ride a rhino or giraffe, enjoy a bird aviary, see birds of prey in flight, and watch manatee swim, pluis so much more. They pricing is slightly higher for a meal or refreshments for the area, but you're captive! Maybe bring a snack or water. If you go early to watch the monkeys, you'll go often, they are a riot. The Lowry has some very excellent events (special ticket purchase) done right, with headline entertainment at times. Good for a date or the family. This is a clean and fairly well laid out facility. Clean amenities, and decent shows with the animals. Fun and friendly staff, very helpful.

Kid friendly. I am a Tampa native and take the grandkids at least 4 or 5 times a year. The kids LOVE going to the zoo.

It's clean with healthy animals, wonderful walkways. It is so popular here in Tampa that sometimes you can't find a parking place. I love it!
