Location is excellent with a private access shared by other resorts located in the sarasea circle area. The grounds are clean and well maintained. My issues are with the size of the room we were given. Will post pictures so that you can judge and see for yourself. The walls are thin that you can hear the ongoings and conversations next door.Room is very cramped it feels like being in a dorm.Needs hairdryer in the bathroom.

Captiva Beach Resort was able to meet my criteria for a hotel/vacation/getaway.
1. Cleanliness - Our room #17 the smallest room at CBR was immaculate and well appointed and provided for all of our needs. The entire resort area which includes the other resorts on Sara Sea Circle were all very clean, tidy, and had wonderful, well thought out landscaping. It is all tucked away off the road and has a very private feeling to it
2. Bed comfort - Almost like being at home. Very comfortable and clean
3. Service - All the staff at CBR including housekeeping were friendly and personable.
The resort is a two minute walk to the beach, the pool is a one minute walk. The food/drinks/atmosphere at Capt Curts, a three minute walk was great. Fine dining at Javiers was exceptional.
CBR is located on the southern end of Siesta Key and away from the hustle and bustle of the north village area. If you're looking for crowds of people, a loud party atmosphere and lots of shopping and excitement, head north to the village. Peace and quiet are to be found at CBR.

Room Tip: #17 is as advertised, a VERY small room located next to the laundry but the exceptional qualities of...

I am not used to staying in a resort type of place and this was the first time my wife and I did such a thing. This was our very first trip to Siesta Key and we book this place simply because it was the cheapest place we found in that area.

The place is nestled in an area with several other resort places. When coming off the main road the road that this place is on is like a 'V' shape. We simply drove to the end and made a sharp left hand turn and drove past 2 resorts stays and we were there.

We rented a medium sized room with a queen bed. I think it also had a pullout bed from the couch but we never used it.
Cons:
The resort is about a good 100 yard walk to the beach. If you are used to a motel type of beach front this is not for you. My wife had to walk slow due to several bulging discs in her lower back. We just walked slowly to the beach.

The parking area is numbered according to your room number. It is angled parking and if you have a large vehicle you will find it a challege to get out, especially if you parked close to the rooms. Very hard to do a 3point turn. It is better to back all the way out to the street and then go.

The bed we had was a bit high. My wife is 5'3" and with her injury she found it a challenge to get up on the bed.

The bathroom was a bit small. Taking out the shower think of it as a bathoom onboard a plane only 3-4x bigger. The toilet paper sits to your left behind your back so I had to twist myself in order to pull some off. I found the the logistics of that quite interesting.

Pros:
It is away from traffic. We spent 2 nights there and did not hear any speed cars, horns, sirens, period. We did hear people talking outside though. Not sure if the walls are paper thin or what was up there.

There is a pool there in the middle of the 'V' that is used by all the customers of the surrounding resort. You are given a key to use it. We never used it though.

Economically it was a great value. We spent $98 with tax included for our room. The other rooms they had run up to $145 I think but they were probably split bedrooms.

The staff told us that they are doing some remolding and will eventually be updating their website.

Also, every morning if you wish to have new towels, etc. A white trash bag is provided for you to put them in and place them outside the door. When you arrive back you will find a fresh set awaiting you. If you do not wish them to clean the room while you are gone you can place a tag in the key outside the door as well. We found the staff extremely helpful!!!

btw, we stayed in room #16. There was a stove, oven, microwave, sink, refrigerator. I also noticed there were glasses, dished and cookware that could be used as well. Had a table with 2 chairs, a love seat couch that had a 70's feel to it. The tv is the old tube hidden in an entertainment center. It is in front of the couch. If you want to watch tv while in bed that will be at an angle. Outside the door are 2 lawn chairs that will rock forward and backward. We didn't use but they would be great for getting fresh air and for reading.

What did my wife and I do in the resort?
Beyond a little bit of rest we did go to the beach for about 3 hours. It was a good 100 yard walk. Maybe a little more. If you have trouble walking that distance there are golf cart type vehicles that can drive you to the walkway to the beach.
There is a food vendor there as well selling hot dogs during the day and breakfast stuff during the morning. Cheapest hot dog was $2.50. We got 2 of those after the beach.

I am used to the motel type of atmosphere, the type in which we are in a high rise and the door opens up to a pool or to a hall way, go down the elevator and within 50' you are on the beach sands. This place is not that. It is more or less a home away from home and meant to stay for more than a night. Great place to go if you need some peace and quiet, if you want a little beach scene without the noise.

If the place has a blemish at all it is the way the parking is situated. Bringng a long vehicle will be your challenge. It is a one way driveway. Driving has to be either a 3 pt turn at the end or simply back up all the way to the road. Traffic is very, very light so backing up would be the better route.

in 2012 My wife's sister and family want to come to Siesta Key. If we come with them we will either choose Captiva beach resort again or one of the 2 other ones that are closer to walking distance to the beach.

I hope this helps anyone who is considering captiva beach resort to stay.

Room Tip: Don't get the small rooms unless you are solo. I happened to peak in on one where the windows we...

I initally booked for a night, then decided to stay a week! My (king) room and the whole resort are kept immaculately clean, amazing considering that the quartz sand from the beach clings to everything! The room itself had everything I needed, kitchen and bathroom well stocked, free wifi and a paper each day. I felt very comfortable here as a solo traveller, but may have felt slightly cramped in the room if my partner had accompanied me during this stay. All in all though, given its close distance to the best beach in the US, I think it is great value for money.

We stayed in the two-bedroom unit (#32) directly behind the office. It was immaculately clean with a full well-equipped kitchen. There was a dining area and a living room with television. The master bedroom was very large and comfortable with a king-sized bed, television armoire, and full closet. The second bedroom was quite small but adequate. It contained a comfortable queen-sized bed and full sized dresser. The furniture filled the room, however, and there was no television or closet. For the price we paid, Captiva Beach Resort was much more than we expected. We were extremely satisfied with the accommodations. Deb, in the office, was always helpful and friendly. The beach is about a half of a block away, an easy stroll through other Sara Sea Circle properties. The pool is shared by some of those other properties. The pool was lovely, warm, and never very crowded. We found the beach to be quite beautiful but fairly crowded considering the time of the year. Be advised to bring your own beach chairs and umbrella for the beach if you can, as like in most resort areas you must rent the ones that are available at the beach. We had a lovely time at Siesta Key. However, it is not really a place to find deserted beaches and to commune with nature. If you don't mind a busy beach and you enjoy people watching, this might be the place for you.
