Let me say from the start that I'm rating not the sand but the overall beach experience.
No questions, the sand, hands down, is one of the best I've ever seen. I hear it's almost pure quarz, so maybe that's the reason it doesn't get scorchingly hot like some other places. The grain is so fine, it feels like powder of flour.
The water is rather clean, and the entry is shallow, making it safe(r) for kids: you need to walk about 70 ft. in to get chest-deep.
The sand bar is very wide, which is both a blessing (lots of room for lots of people) and a curse (because you need to walk long distances to get to any services). The infrastructure is a rather weak point because the beach and the number of people it attracts need at least triple the number of facilities already there (toilets, change rooms, water fountains, concessions, etc.) That's the key reason I'm taking one star off.
Be mindful of the limited parking space. The parking lot is fairly big, but the number of visitors is bigger still.
