A group of us went to the show last night before the circus goes to DC. I was fortunate to have a meal at Michaels on East before the show. I was able to see Dolly Jacobs. The show was fantastic. All of the people were fantastic in the show. Thank you ALL so much.

We have lived in Sarasota for several years and I am embarrassed to say this was our first trip to the Sailor's Circus. We had our family and grandchildren visiting and it was recommended to us by friends.

Everyone loved it and were so impressed by the talented students and their professional skill. Even the 5 year old sat mesmerized throughout the show. An alumni sat next to us and she explained all the hours of work and dedication that each performer puts into learning their act. The 15 year old boy was even impressed by the acts especially on the trapeze.

As a former elementary teacher I find it all very impressive and I commend all the mentors and instructors who obviously love what they do and pass it on to the students.

Thank you for sharing your Sailor Circus Experience with us!! We are so glad you enjoyed the show and hope you will tell your friends about us so they can attend a show in the future as well. We are passionate about circus as are the students and it's incredibly apparent in our performances!

We were thoroughly entertained by these young people. They put their hearts into their performance, and they showed their passion. The only negative was the heat inside the arena but for us that was only a minor distraction. We took several grandchildren who said the night was awesome. We will be back.

To be honest, this was my fist visit to a circus. While in Sarasota visiting family we had an opportunity to go to the Kids Sailor Circus. We were there for the opening night. The performances by the 8 to 18 year old kids was simply outstanding, especially considering that they train for only 9 weeks after school hours and on weekends to prepare for the show. Some are quite skilled and all gave 100 percent effort. We were quite impressed.
My only negative comment was not about the performances nor the kids, but rather the facilities. The restroom facilities are quite limited and were basically about 8 porta-johns. During intermission the lines to the restrooms were extremely long and disorganized which cause the line to intermingle with the crowd buying food and souvenirs. No one could tell where the line was part of the time. The seating was crowded and shoulder to shoulder and if someone in the middle of the row needed to get up and leave, almost everyone in the row had to get up and leave the row as well. Also not being air conditioned, the building became pretty warm at times.

Once again, the performances by the kids, the volunteers and coaches was simply outstanding.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your experience at Sailor Circus. We agree that the kids are amazing. They actually train about 20 hours a week but can go higher depending on the acts they are participating in and they start training with the beginning of the school year. Regarding our facilities we know the arena needs updating - air conditioning, seating, restrooms and floors are all needs we are trying to raise money for. We are in the midst of a fundraising effort and hope to have the funds to get the arena updated soon. Stay tuned!!

First I have to say I went to read the posts by people who rated this even as Terrible or Poor. Obviously, they have no idea what is going on here. This is not promoted as a Professional Circus. This is a bunch of very hard working Middle and High School students who are studying the circus arts and working their butts off. If you are not smart enough to know what the program is that you are purchasing a ticket for, do some homework. As for relatives and family viewing the show, out of the more than a dozen people we talked with, none were related in any way to the performers. Relatives and family are the vollenteers at the performance. How dare these ignorant people take the time to criticize this event or say nasty things about the kids preforming. I'd like to see them get their butts up on the High Wire after 9 weeks of practice!!

That being said, hell yes there were some mistakes, good thing they fly over a net which catches them when the catcher missed for some reason. But I have seen a catcher miss at a Professional Circus. This was a great performance this evening by a group of students numbering over 150. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a circus. It is what it is, students learning and preforming. It's entertainment and it's fun, a great family event.

Criticism.....it is not an air conditioned venu. Seats are shoulder to shoulder and it gets hot inside the building. I will still be back again next season!

Thank you for your input regarding our performers and shows. Our kids work incredibly hard to produce the best circus show they can. As the country's longest running youth circus, the Sailor Circus staff, coaches and volunteers also work very hard to continue the circus traditions that were started here almost 70 years ago and we're proud of our annual productions.
