We were evacuated from Longboat Key and went to Holiday Inn Sarasota - Airport. Our first visit here, and during such a traumatic time for all - they staff and hotel itself was no less that AMAZING. From clean, beautiful facility and room to each and every staff member being non other than gracious, fun and helpful. From the general Manager to waitress (sorry forgot their names) : ( ) along with - Front Desk: Mark, Bartenders, Jay and Carol - we couldn't have 'enjoyed' a better stay. They kept spirits up and helped everywhere, including carrying our luggage down 5 flights of stairs. With my husband and I also in the 'Hospitality' industry, we were nothing less than 'grateful' . Looking forward to visiting whenever we can - Bill and Chris Bushman

The service was great, we had a very clean room and well maintained hotel. The staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home. Our first night there we meant Kit our server who was absolutely great my wife has breathing issues and Kit did everything she could to help her feel comfortable. All of the staff was very helpful and friendly even with their own problems from the storm. Our compliments to the chef for providing excellent meals under limited circumstances.

Dear rcolton2,

We really appreciate your recent business during the storm and it's awesome to hear you had an enjoyable experience even given our operational challenges. With the severity of the approaching hurricane, our goal was to first keep everyone safe followed closely by our efforts to provide complete comfort and entertainment (even in the dark)! Our Executive Chef Robert North and Kit get all the credit for the amazing food and service they provided even given their own personal storm stress and worry. We have some truly incredible individuals as part of our team and hearing your public satisfaction is just the motivation they need to keep it up. Your future patronage is everything to us and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thank you,

Dylan T Bower

This is the goto hotel my Sarasota based company uses for our incoming guests, and knowing it well, it was the logical safe-haven I took myself and family to when Irma came calling.
Mark Thornley was the first person we met, immediately saw our needs, and put us at ease, got us a great room, a large, clean, suite ( I'm a platinum member so auto-upgraded ) quickly and if we needed anything after that either Mark himself or one of his staff, Alexus or Deavon made sure it was taken care off - trust them, they will take good care of you.
Storm arrived, but amazingly all the staff kept on working, focused fully on us their guests. Mr. Patel the hotel owner was sheltering there with his family and I saw that he had generously also extended the invitation to all his staff and their families to also safely stay in the hotel.
Irma came on Sunday evening, as did the food and beverages throughout our stay, the hotel kitchen continued to provide choice, cook and maintain food at the quality and speed of service we normally find here, from individual menu meals to daily lunch and dinner buffets featuring different country flavors, with the dishes and drinks being delivered to your table by Kit, Liz…and some others, always with a smile, even when under the huge stress and duress of the storm!
The hotel bar is large and as always was full of people, lot of locals and many of the guests, lot of great conversation for distraction and no shortage of great drinks served courtesy of Carol and Jay, probably the two best known members of the hotel staff !
After the storm on Monday morning, with no lights or power, the kitchen and restaurant staff again provided fruit, juices and a cold breakfast selection for all the guests – good advance planning was evident.

Irma was a big scary storm, the staff at this hotel should be commended for their professionalism, and outstanding commitment to their guests safety, wellbeing and comfort – and thank you personally from myself and my family.

Room Tip: Speak to Mark, Alexus or Deavon

Dear Gary G,

What a wonderful review of your recent stay at our property and we wholeheartedly thank you for sharing with the world! Hurricane Irma was a very scary scenario for all of us and we made the decision to focus on people first more so than the business. We knew that the more of our preferred hotel partners like Sun Hydraulics and our friends, families, and pets we could keep safe here with us, the better the process would be. As a representative of our management team, we could not possibly be more proud of our staff that somehow put their own personal storm challenges and stress aside to continue to provide exceptional service to our very deserving guests. Luckily we have very generous ownership that gave us the support and resources needed to keep everyone safe and comfortable and I guess that's why they say leadership starts from the top. Please accept our sincerest gratitude for your patronage and we look forward to providing you another pleasurable stay soon.

With appreciation,

Dylan T Bower

As a guest of your Sarasota location, I could not be more impressed with your facility, service, and most of all, your friendly and helpful staff. I evacuated here from 9/7-9/11 during the recent Hurricane Irma. Every member of staff kept a smile on their face throughout the whole time—you would hardly know we were going through a natural disaster. Dylan Bower, the manager, was calm, compassionate, capable and professional to all of the guests during this tumultuous weekend. Everyone else from maintenance (Brian) to the bartenders and servers (Jay and Carol) to the front desk staff were cheerful, helpful, caring and understanding; despite shouldering the great responsibility of overseeing a hotel full of troubled evacuees (and their pets). Also the food was always fresh and delish thanks to the excellent chefs and other back of the house employees. Your staff was experiencing the same uncertainty as your guests regarding potential harm to loved ones and loss of property, yet somehow the comfort and well-being of your guests was their primary responsibility. It was truly amazing. I want to sincerely thank you for all that you’ve done. In a time of uncertainty and concern about the possibility of losing everything, you and your staff somehow made the experience of “Irma 2017” pleasant. Holiday Inn was my first choice previously…and this experience has made it my only choice. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Warm Regards,
Teresa LaForgia

My husband and I evacuated to this hotel for hurricane IRMA. I cannot say enough about how accommodating and kind the ENTIRE staff was. There they were, away from their families, stuck at the hotel, yet they had genuine smiles on their faces and were truly concerned about the safety of everyone. The one male waiter was actually cheerful and also very funny. The hotel was well stocked with food (and liquor!) and water. The manager of the place, i do not know his name, (he is British), was excellent. He maintained his professionalism the entire time, even when dealing with ungrateful idiots that were complaining about not getting the king bed that they requested. In addition, besides being one of the few hotels that allowed pets, the Holiday Inn waived the daily charge for having a pet because of the hurricane. So there really are companies who care more about people than making a dime! The entire staff and that manager should be commended for their excellent, amazing work.

Room Tip: they allow pets (we had two dogs) for a $75 a day charge, which they waived during the hurricane.
