We traveled quite a ways to get to this state park. Unfortunately some of the activities were already booked/full from tour buses before we arrived. There really should be a way to prebook before wasting a day on the trip. The park itself is neat with a good nature trail and cool canopy trail.

Went here on a non beach day. The park is easy to get to and is well maintained. We brought our own bikes and toured the park at a nice pace. There are alligators in the rivers basking on the banks and many other birds along the road and lakes. the canopy walk is fun and a must do if you are not afraid of heights is go to the top of the tower. it give a view of the forest canopy and you can see nothing for miles except tree tops.
If you want to do a boat tour get there early, they book up fast.

This is a large State Park with a $6 per car entrance fee. Our senior biking group visited yesterday to ride through the park and we all enjoyed the experience and hope to return. Biking is along the paved road (about 14 miles round trip from gate to gate) sharing with the car traffic. (No designated bike lane.) As long as traffic is light and drivers obey the park speed limit, this is ok, We stopped at bird and gator observation areas as well as the canopy walk. Many others were there for the tram rides, airboat rides, camping or canoe rentals. It was a bit crowded near the boat launch and concession area. Saw lots of gators, wild turkey, deer (one with a tiny fawn) . Great facilities here.

We camped for a week during Spring Break with our 11 year old son. The only reason I rated this campground at 3 stars was the lack of access to water. Gators abound here and exercising caution is a must. That being said, we witnessed visitors climbing down from the bridge (alligator alley) with little children, disregarding warning signs which are posted all over the Park, with sticks ready to poke at wild alligators. The sites are nice and relatively private, very friendly campers, quiet, with interesting wildlife to observe. We stayed in the Old Prarie side of the campground. I would not recommend staying at sites 27-32 due to the proximity of the dumping station. I wish I had known this before I made my reservation. At times, the smell was unbearable. Overall, a very pleasant week. Great place to bike and enjoy nature, just be sure to respect it!

This park has an entrance fee and that’s fine. The value here is in the boat and tram ride. The guides were so
knowledgeable for both the lake and the land rides. There is a nice gift shop and cafe with pretty reasonable food prices. We would definitely return in the future. Plan to spend most of a day there. There are lots of alligators in the lake and you can rent kayaks or canoes if you’re daring.
