“Back to nature...”

From the moment we arrived, we felt enveloped by nature. There is something so unique about the architectural design of this home that you feel at ease immediately. The home says take off your shoes, leave your cares behind, and relax. The air smells fresher, the sun warmer, nature feels nearer. Once we settled in, we didn’t want to leave the house, and when we did, we couldn’t wait to return “home”. BBH was a magical experience for us. The weeks we spent there were charmed. The weather was a perfect 78 nearly every day. We walked the beach, rode the bikes, cooked, read, enjoyed great restaurants, joined the nightly sunset watchers at Blind Pass, curled up to watch movies, sipped coffee on the screened porch in the mornings, wine in the evenings, and entertained friends and family. We couldn’t have asked for more. Robin is sweet, responsive, attentive, and accommodating. We felt he was available whenever we needed to touch base. His Sanibel crew was “at our service”, but because the house was so beautifully guest ready, we never needed to call upon them. We had a dream island escape and would recommend Robin’s lovely home to anyone wanting to escape the city, connect with nature and relax in paradise.

Things to note:

Architecturally significant home surrounded by lush gardens
Unique fully screened exterior to open the house up to Gulf breezes
Open floor plan with two story great room
Central air/heating, fireplace, and ceiling fans
Bose wireless speaker for guest use
Attractive and comfortable furniture throughout, in good condition
Flat screened tv’s with cable access
Wireless, hi-speed internet throughout
Indoor, outdoor & garden dining options
Well-stocked kitchen with everything needed to cook and/or entertain (basics spice rack, coffee maker, microwave, dish and flatware service for 12, placemats, napkins, kitchen towels, paper towel, a variety of serving pieces, pots and pans, indoor and outdoor grill, good stock of basic cooking utensils, multiple sized storage containers, garbage bags).
Closets, bathrooms, fridge all free of owner’s items, though thoughtfully stocked with necessities like hair dryer, laundry soaps, iron and ironing board, etc.
Clean, well-maintained, efficiently designed, comfortable home
Laundry on main level, well stocked linen closet includes beach towels
Two very nice bikes for taking rides around island (helmets included), bike rental on Periwinkle if more bikes needed.
Two Upper level children’s/guest bedrooms with bath plus loft entertainment area/library/tv room.
Upper level sunning /observation deck

Large screened porch off living room offers fabulous spot for reading, working, dining or enjoying morning coffee.
Wake up to morning breezes and sounds of island wildlife in the main floor owner’s suite, with very comfortable bed and bedding

Private walking path to Bowman’s Beach.
Minutes to Captiva’s beaches, restaurants, shops, and entertainment
Minutes to Periwinkle for shopping, restaurants, and entertainment

“Almost everything one could want in a vacation”
Reviewed 29 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

As the daughter of an architect, I was immediately struck by this house, as was my daughter.
We were very pleased with the floor plan, and especially with the siting arranged so that there was almost always a delightful breeze on the porch where we spent a great deal of time, as well as throughout the house. It was very nicely equipped for guests, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The walk to the beach, while long, traversed interesting terrain, and there was always something to be seen from the bridge across the lagoon on the way. The beach, a public one, was sometimes very crowded but my son's family enjoyed some interaction with other kids there. The location, far up-island, was a distinct plus, as it was easy to access the Ding Darling, Shell Museum, SCCF, and even Bailey's without fighting Periwinkle traffic. It was also beautifully quiet, and populated by great birds as well as the occasional tortoise.

“Unique House in a Great Location”

Designed by world-famous architects, this unique house is comfortably furnished and located in our favorite part of Sanibel Island, the quiet west end near Bowman's Beach. Some of Sanibel's best restaurants, including the Mad Hatter, are nearby, as is the wonderful "Ding" Darling bird refuge, a must-see for serious bird watchers. One of the many wonderful features of the house is its two-story screened porch, letting breezes flow throughout the house when weather permits. Highly recommended!

“One of the gems of the island. A wonderful experience!”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 for a stay in January 2014

A lovely home designed to make you feel like you are part of the amazing ecosystem around you while enjoying great comfort within the fully screen wrapped building. We love this home and had great communication with the owners. Just give us the word and we'd be the first in line to purchase this work of art.

We are a family from Florence, Italy with a 3 year old little girl. We loved BBH and Sanibel Island - this house is truly unique, like nothing we have ever seen before. Beautiful!
Thank you, Robin, for all your help in arranging our holiday. We hope to see you next year as well because we plan on coming back for sure!
Ciao!
