I had ridden through here on bikes in the past. This time we did the tram tour. It was great. We had a very good guide & learned a lot.

The 7 of us (ages 9 to 79) thoroughly enjoyed our 1.5 hour tram tour with Kristie, our knowledgeable guide. Well worth the cost and we never would have seen any of the birds, crabs, stingray or jumping fish without her excellent guidance. Fun for all ages.

Stopped off here to take in the wildlife trail and get an understanding of the nature reserve. We took the trolley tour and had a very informative guide who took a lot of time to explain the background of the reserve and what to look out for.

We did the driving tour. Both bikes and vehicles do this slow winding tour over 4 Miles. Stops for sights as well as small hiking trails.

This sub-tropical sanctuary is located on Sanibel, an offshore island, NW of the Everglades and is operated by the US Game and Wildlife Service. The bird migration season ends by May, and affords a great variety of herons, egrets, spoonbills and raptors.
There are resident manatees, alligators,
Tortoises, otters and other small mammals.
A great way to learn about the place is taking a 90 minute guided tram. Our docent, Wendy, was a very perceptive and funny guide.
