Just returned from a short stay at the Seaside Inn and only have great things to say about the place. Staff were very friendly and helpful when we checked in, giving us lots of info about local restaurants etc. We stayed in a cottage, which was spacious and had obviously been recently renovated with modern fittings and a lovely bathroom with a great shower. Probably the best thing about the Seaside Inn is the location, it's right on the beach in lovely gardens, only a short bike ride from most of the main shops and restaurants. (taxis to the other side of the island and Captiva are fixed price from $10 - $30). I'd reccomend taking a couple of bikes and having a ride around the island, there are dedicated cycle paths everywhere and cars have to give way to pedestrians and bikes which makes travelling by bike very easy. I spotted a review here complaining that the bikes that you can take for free from the Seaside Inn 'don't have breaks', but to me that's just someone trying to find fault. They are fixed gear bikes, so you simply peddle backwards to stop - hardly a major inconvenience!?

All in all, the Seaside Inn is a fantastic place to stay, only downsides were that the wi-fi was a little hit and miss, and there is no bar or restaurant on site, but there is a bar at their sister property a short walk away.

I'd suggest driving up to watch the sunset at the mucky duck on Captiva. The food is fairly average, but the location and the ambiance are second to none. Timbers restaurant was the best food by far - amazing seafood and brilliant service.

This was our first trip to Sanibel, but it won't be the last! I couldn't have asked for much more for a winter getaway. The Seaside Inn was a stone's throw from the beach. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed having the kitchenette since we had breakfast in the room every morning (a continental breakfast basket was delivered every evening). Not having to go out for breakfast gave us more time to soak up the sun, enjoy shelling and just relax! The staff at the front desk was always helpful and friendly. We had a room with a screened-in porch with a view of the gulf. If you are looking for relaxation, look no further! From your chaise lounge, you can see the sand bar, which attracts a wide variety of birds, including pelicans and egrets. The most entertaining sight was the mullets jumping out of the water--a first for us.

Having read the reviews on this place I was a little concerned. But there was so little left with it being easter, I thought 'oh hey, it's only 3 nights' This place does so not deserve the ropey reviews it gets. Ok, so it's not as modernised as some places;a good thing as feels authentic. Ok, so the rooms are a bit of a squeeze for a family, not a problem either.
There was othing about this friendly, chilled little hotel we would change. It totally fits in with it's environment and has a sand between your toes carribean feel, without the pretentiousness.
We loved it and will return.
One critisism, the proch lights blazed all night and you couldn't control them from the room, this place 'could be' a fantastic eco-escape but this waste of elec. and light pollution lets the side down a bit. We struggled to see the stars on a very clear night because of this.

Room Tip: Always get a gulf view, we didn't but make that your aim.

A recent transplant from SE Florida to Keystone Colorado, a much needed trip to Sanibel was needed for myself and my family. We had a wonderful 3 bedroom suite that was spacious and the decor tranquil. From beach chairs to the delightful breakfast basket, you didn't miss a beat with making our trip relaxing and with no headaches of the "resort vacation" as I call it when the pool is crowed from morning till night, you have to wear wristbands during your entire stay and it doesn't get quiet till 10 o'clock at night. Thank you Seaside Inn for giving me everything I wanted in a nice relaxing family vacation, can't wait for next year :)

Absolutely wonderful, I cannot express how much we are pleased with the Seaside Inn. We have stayed here two different years and loved it both times (and we intend to stay again). I’m a very hard person to please but these people are getting it right.

Room Tip: As one other reviewer stated stay away from the rooms on the end close to the office, air conditione...
