I'm torn with this review. I looked and looked online at places to stay in the area from hotels to B@Bs to vacation rentals like this one. I ultimately chose this one although the price was slightly higher than a hotel suite or B@B with 2 rooms although it was priced less than any comparable vacation rental. First off, the owner was very responsive via email with questions about the rental process. Also on arrival we couldn't locate the wifi password and called the owner. The wifi was new and the password was not posted but we figured it out and located it later in a decorative box on the coffee table. The owner called back to ensure the problem was resolved. The master bathroom needs some work. The tiled shower floor appears cracked and the tile surround dirty or moldy in the grout. The second bath has a shower/tub surround of 70's green and rust around the sink drain. The house also has a slight musky/moldy smell. We paid a $150.00 cleaning fee and I didn't feel like we walked into a nicely cleaned home after finding an obvious stray hair in one bathroom, dirt or mold in the other and the kitchen table with prints and smears on it. My other issue with this cleaning fee was that I was directed to clean prior to leaving. There's a list telling you to take all trash out and remove all used linens and towels and place them in the kitchen. We did it, but why am I being charged a $150.00 cleaning fee to do the work the house keeper should be doing. Here's the "torn" part which I shared with the owner and I assume will be corrected, but would feel remiss not to share this experience as this was part of our stay. A bit of rain caused one of the skylights to leak during a moderate rain. Some stains were present but I assumed they were old until the rain came. On our final day we packed and took home some left over bread that we bought and kept on the kitchen counter/bar. On closer inspection some creature, probably a mouse, had ripped through the plastic bread bags and had a snack. We never saw a mouse but something had a snack while we were there. The owner stated he was unaware of the leak or vermin and these would be addressed, which I have no reason to doubt. The house is nicely decorated, has updated appliances and comfortable beds with lots of pillows. The Florida(?) room has books and games for entertainment. Two flat screen TVs and one box TV with more cable channels than you'll ever need. The deck facing the beach has 4 chairs built to raise your view of the ocean and 4 Adirondack style chairs. The beach view is limited by the dunes in front of the house. The house is close the adjacent neighbors on one side but palm trees and vegetation provide privacy. The other side faces a small public parking lot and hotel parking lot which didn't have much traffic when we were there. There is a public beach access boardwalk next to the house which is good for people watching but not privacy from the deck. Google street view gives you an idea of the surrounding area. The 2 car garage is not accessible, which we did not realize until arrival. There are parking curbs in front of the garage and no access to the garage by tenants. Not really related to the house itself, but Vilano beach offers vehicle access and they apparently like to park in this area which is the furthest point they can go. The beach was nice but I didn't like the vehicles parked there. Overall, with attention to these issues completed I would recommend this to friends. As is, no.
